Well, my cold is clearing up but I still have a very bad cough. I hate colds. It amazes me how long we've been around and we still don't have a cure for the common cold as well as sore throat.

Well, my cold is clearing up but I still have a very bad cough. I hate colds. It amazes me how long we've been around and we still don't have a cure for the common cold as well as sore throat.
That's because of how the virus associated with cold works. It mutates i.e. changes too much to havw a permanent cure. It's like figuring out what a criminal looks like and printing "WANTED" posters, but the criminal has a superpower and can change what he looks like every few months. Cures exist but are temporary or redundant.
I actually don't mind a cold. It sucks but when my clogged nose finally clears up... ah it's like heaven in my nose. Makes getting the cold worth it

Fuck viruses! I have a cold, I'm on meds. I'm home for the holidays for 2 weeks and can't drink any alcohol!

I hate them too. Good news for me though, I have not had a cold in perhaps 4 years. My guess? I don't consume dairy. I don't eat processed junk. I consume a lot of antioxidants. I'm an exercise nut! I keep hydrated. I am very selfish about getting enough sleep.
I think this all helps so I tell people to do the same. :-) It all benefits your immune system to kill the invaders before they set up shop long enough to make you feel sick. Truth is that we're always coming into contact with bugs.
Drink plenty of hot fluids, it will help you tremendously while you're sick. Chicken soup has an anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin C and zinc are beneficial for you. Echinacea is good to take too. I suggest Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Complete Care Wellness Tea. Trust me, its awesome. I mean, if you want to feel better, do everything! SLEEP! Then, if its cold, go outside for a walk. It clears your sinuses. Spicy soups can clear things faster. I add turmeric to everything (it has an anti-inflammatory effect). Take a bunch of real veggies like carrots, green peppers, chicken broth, chicken, sweet potatoes, onions,and the turmeric(or curry powder) - heat them up as a soup - eat! Seriously, you will probably start feeling better quickly. This can reduce the worst of your cold to maybe 24 hours. :-)
