I hate brushing my teeth.

I'm 20 yrs. old and I hate brushing my teeth. like, a lot. i pretty much only feel like brushing them when my mouth feels really nasty because i've forgotten to brush. it's gross, i know, but i really have to make myself do it when i need to. i dont know if its the fact that im not the biggest fan of mint flavor, or that it hurts to brush them, but i can't stand it. is it normal?

It probably hurts you to brush your teeth because you never brush them. I don't like brushing my teeth either, but I do it anyway, because I value my teeth. I know someone who didn't take care of her teeth, and she hardly has any teeth now! She's only in her 20s! Brush your teeth, you won't regret it.

Try a different flavor besides mint..I don't care for the mint either. Anyway, even if you don't like it...it's a must.

Yo dawg, you don't gotta brush your teeth if you don't wanna keep em cuz they got dentures for that and you can put em in dat water.

Yeah it's normal, I do it at the most once a day (before I go to bed), and sometimes if I'm either too lazy, or too sleepy, or just don't want to then I just pass up on it, and so far no cavities. I'm sure toothpaste has some chemical that causes cavities that the government requires to be put in it, so then teeth get damaged and doctors profit. But yeah, totally normal.

From fresh breath, to pearly white teeth, healthy people simply look more successful. How do you rate yourself when you look in the mirror?

Smell your own breath: if it is not as nice as you would like, your teeth and gums are likely the culprit. Consider a visit to the dentist.

The only thing that frightens people more than dental treatment is dental pain. Regular checkups and proper daily care go a long way towards preventing pain. If you want to improve your self esteem, getting your teeth cleaned and polished can deliver a quick image boost.

I was going to say it was normal until you said you dont like brushing because it hurts. So I cant rightfully say it is.
Normal you just dont like brushing? Yes.
But normal that it hurts too? Possibly not. You could have some kind of gum disease or allergy or SOMETHING.

My father is a dentist and he says brushing is the only way to CLEAN your TEETH that will help prevent bone loss and cavities. Just buck up and don't let your teeth go it will save you physical and financial pain!

I know this post is 4 years old but there is a scientific theory for not brushing your teeth http://saveourbones.com/stop-brushing-your-teeth-until-you-read-this/ . I have to say that 3 separate science teachers from 2 schools used to tell me that we should only drink filtered water because government supplied water Is killing us with heavy metal fluoride. I for one brush my teeth without toothpaste Completely. If fluorides already in the water why bother. Also this way I get less of it I'm 43 with white teeth. I can confirm that toothpaste does nothing and I'm 100 percent teeth. On top of that I have a really sensative mouth so when the poster says it hurts I think he's referring to what I feel which is the mint burn when it chemically combines with my saliva which isba sort of catalyst if you have certain hormone levels, as opposed to the physical action of brushing. I too have that sensation and it's the reason I gave up toothpaste. You can also make your own if it helps.

Hey I'm from england and I prob brush my teeth bout 4 times a day!! You NEED to do it, it's the 1st place that needs the most attention! Because it's the first place any decent person will look, see, smell and experience when they meet you, if cleaning your teeth hurts then you may have gum disease or sensitive gums, bit either way trial and error will find you the right toothpaste and dentist that makes you feel happier about it .... Maybe x

I agree with a lot of ppl on here. I'm a 23 year old girl, and I don't like brushing my teeth. But I do it every day, because it's f*cking gross not to.

Actually, English people statistically have far better teeth than people from the US.

To the poster - it hurts when you brush your teeth because you don't brush them enough, the same way it hurts when you moisturise really dry skin. If you hate mint buy kids toothpaste, its better than not brushing at all.

If you don't like brushing, the least you could do is rinse everyday with a flouride mouthwash...

Although, that won't stop cavities or gingivitis...
