I hate big/formal weddings and i don't want one when i get married.

I feel that weddings where you invite everyone and spend much on is a huge waste of money and effort. I don't see and I hope not to see the point of having to dress up so formally and decorated for these types of occasions here. I'd personally prefer a wedding with almost nobody around and with nobody congratulating me. I think that stuff like this should be private unless the marriage was a transaction. Is this normal for me to think like this?

    Normal.
    My husband and I just went to the courthouse and signed the papers.

    Now we are legally bound to eachother, which makes legal work so much easier. I just have no care for having to give everyone the chance to celebrate my marriage. We've always been partners. If anything, our partnership started after we started dating. What's there to celebrate? That we can now fill out rental contracts much more easily? Or file jointly on our tax returns?

    Seriously. If my family wants to have a big, expensive party over a contract, they can just throw one themselves.

    The whole purpose of a wedding is now askew. I see it as a form of documentation now. A wedding was originally a major religious thing, now its more of a statement of your wealth and how much your willing to show off.

      It should be nothing more than making your relationship official as life partners.

    Normal for sure.

    I wouldn't want much of a wedding either. I personally would prefer a private wedding.

    I think it would be neat to get married in a beautiful woods in the fall with the brightly colored leaves.

    I had a pretty small wedding and loved it. I think people who spend thousands of dollars on a wedding are stupid. They should use the money to help start their new life like buying a house.

      I wish you luck in convincing your partner though. Especially if you're a guy. Women are all brainwashed into wanting a standard big fancy wedding. It's like they want to show off to the world.

      I would want very few people at my wedding, funeral, and even birthday parties.
      People should not stick their nose into my business or try support me since I don't care.
