I got sedated to have my teeth pulled and woke up weird

A few months ago I got my top wisdom teeth pulled and my mom said that when I woke up I went a little psychotic. Apparently I started trying to eat the nurses and was snapping my teeth at them and saying they looked delicious šŸ˜† I also wanted to eat her too apparently and she kept having to push me away so I wouldn’t bite her arm. She got some of it on video and it’s pretty creepy yet funny.
The whole way home she had to keep the car doors locked and couldn’t go into the convenience store because I said I was going to ā€œrun away to the mountains and be freeā€.

I told my best friend about it and she said her uncle had a similar reaction after waking up from sedation and actually pulled out a pocket knife and started threatening people with it. This got me thinking that maybe it’s just something anesthesia does to some people. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

The medical term is ā€œviolent emergenceā€. It is not abnormal, but it is not typical with anesthesia for dental work.
I’ve seen it happen after deep anesthesia for surgery on the body.

Seems to make sense given your proclivity for being a fox. Biting and running into the woods and all.

Google "youtube funny kid after dentist"

It seems there are loads of parents out there who like filming their kids saying and doing very weird things after dental anaesthesia.

Not as strange as those two examples but it frightened the life out of me & kept the recovery room nurses on their toes. I was coming round in the recovery room (as I had experienced once or twice before) & bolted up from the waist like a vampire popping up from a coffin, one hand on my throat & waving my other hand around over my head & for about 10 (well maybe 5) seconds, my lungs just didn't work.

The nurses rushed over rather hurriedly, banging me on the back. After what seemed like an eternity I started to breathe again. Because of that I wasn't allowed of the ward for 36 hours & I was desperate for a smoke.

Do you know if you had a breathing aid during surgery aside from an oxygen mask?

I couldn't tell you, it was surgery for a recurring problem with a ***********.
Anaesthesia through the cannula in my hand, that cold feeling in said hand & two seconds later lights out.

If you are/were a regular smoker, you may have. Anesthesia can mess with your breathing on its own, so a breathing aid isn’t uncommon if you were under for a prolonged surgical procedure, and then there’s the smoking...

I've had nitrous oxide a couple of times. No affect except for a zoned out feeling. I had to stay in the office for a while until they figured it was OK for me to go.
