I get very negative emotions once its dark.

For some reason i have noticed that once i am laid in bed in the dark texting people, i start interpreting everything as negative and i get in a lot of arguments. I end up crying most nights because i just start thinking about bad stuff and i start panicking about things that havent happened and probably won't. This is absolutely wrecking my social life because everyone just expects me to start getting upset on a night now. Is this normal?

Though it is true that people tend to be more negative once the sun goes down, this may be more extreme. If it is bothering you, and it seems like it is: "This is absolutely wrecking my social life." You should talk to a professional. Some random person on the internet's opinion: Seems like it's some form of anxiety, but you should see a profession to be sure.

Keep the light on when texting. Try not to text when you are tired or if it's getting too late at night. Get sufficient sleep so you can function rationally. You show great awareness of what's happening so with a few minor adjustments you will negate and overcome this thought pattern and perhaps misinterpretation of text messages in no time. Good luck .

Lack of light reduces chemicals that typically make you 'happier'. I think the chemical is called serotonin - can't remember. If you want to avoid feeling that way, maybe get a night light or sleep it off.
