I get brain aches... not head aches. brain aches.

For the past couple of months, I've been feeling a strange kind of sharp pinch in my brain for about 5 seconds at a time, rarely longer. I don't know what is causing it. I am really nervous about smoking or drinking, thinking that it might cause some kind of unhealthy trigger in my head. Also sometimes I feel tingly in parts of my head or body, and feel dizzy often. Whats wrong with me?

It's not just a headache dick head. It's more.. Let someone hit you with a bat in the head 5 times and you can feel the pain I get from my brain aches. It could be a tumor or something seriously wrong so stfu and stop being such a dick head to people about real problems. Go fuck yourself and or go change your attitude..

I am a doctor, and I found your reply to lack all common sense. When having any kind of pain in the head that you feel is not "normal" you should consult with your M.D. You do not go see a psychiatrist. Head pain can be very minor, something as simple as a headache, but it can also be a more serious condition in which a psychiatrist could not diagnose. I believe they are more for mental health. I do not think that people that suffer with migraines see a psychiatrist.

Your brain is physically unable to feel any types of pain. It is just the base that sends signals to receptors and such. Thus, you're experiencing a major headache or migraine.

You need to see a doctor to make sure you're ok. Good luck!

Here you go. Apparently these things are called "ice pick headaches". I'd still go to a doctor if you have one, but this my put your mind, (if not your pain) at ease.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It feels like somebody is grabbing at the sides of your brain with needle-nose pliers while they pull and twist at the same time. I get it sometimes and it wakes me up out of a deep sleep just to clutch my head and ease the pain. I'm sorry I don't know what it is. I'm afraid of doctors. But I do get migraines that manifest as vision loss instead of classic pain. I think I get it when I am dehydrated. Or perhaps dehydrated and drinking alcohol. Sorry I am not more helpful - but know that you are not alone. Please post if you find out anything conclusive.

  • Your brain has no nerve ending in it so you aren't feeling the pain there. Go see a doctor immediately.

Take the above advice ^ and see a doctor immediately. From now on, do not let things like this go on for months without it being checked by a physician. You could be bleeding a bit in your brain and time is of the essence. Good luck and get well soon.

Definitely this is NOT the kind of thing even a neurologist would diagnose over the internet!

Explain those symptoms to your doctor. If they continue or grow worse, she or he could order you a brain scan or other imaging tests.

your having migraines. If your having any numb or tingly or dizzy feeling see a doc asap. my sisters lips would go numb before she got a migraine then a friend of mine had those symptoms and she had an anneyruism in her brain. either way see your doc asap and have them do a cat scan
