I get annoyed when i hear, "you go girl." iin?

I'm all for encouraging people whether they be male or female, but why do we never hear people say, "Yeah, you go boy."

It's always, "You go girl. You go"

Why is that?

It's annoying. IIN?

I heard the teacher I work under yell "girl power" at a female student for lifting something heavy that normally only the guys help with and I'm like... Really? Like it's special when a female has enough upper body strength for simple manual labor, really? GTFO.

    • Yes I hear this kind of thing all the time at work.

A woman lifts 2 plastic chairs or helps move a piece of furniture. "Yeah, girl power!" "You go girl"

      Why?

They're not competing in the Olympics, they're are just moving a lightweight desk from IKEA.

It's inane. It's stupid. I want them to just stop it.

Me too... Quit spreading the belief that it's special for a woman to be able to do such simple tasks... I thought we were trying to be seen as equals, dammit.

I've tried saying "You Go, Boy" and somehow it never sounds quite right. I guess it's because, I'm not used to hearing it.

    • No thanks. I've tried gay sex and realised it's not my thing.

Get some professional help for that anger problem.

  • I dunno. I've heard people say things like "Go on, son!" and so on when guys lift heavy things.

I usually help people lifting heavy things, be it chopped trees or stuff that needs moved and I just get mocked for it even though nobody else can lift them! One they tend to do is do a cliche guy attempt at a girl's voice and go "OOOOOOAH HERCULEEEEEEEZ!", which always makes me lose my grip due to laughing too much. :P

Whenever I lift a heavy object, I scream out: "YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! UUUUUUUGGGHHHH!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!! ARRRRRRGGHHHHH!!! BUUUUURRRRRNNNNN!!!! RAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!"

People get annoyed at my masculinity.

I like being praised for doing a so called 'mans job' gives me recognition that I can do the same as the men and it's recognised. Go me!

You're annoyed at what you're annoyed at, though I find it to be silly.

I don't see the big deal. It's female encouragement. Similar things have been said for guys, but it's not as often (not because of society, I think, but because of the individuals involved and their perception).

For instance, I can see how some guys wouldn't want that to be shouted at them due to them "being a man" and not needing any encouragement in any way. They can do it themselves. A dumb thought but that's how some guys are.

I just think girls calling each other "girl" in general is weird. I hate when another woman says, "oh you know it, girl!" to me, or something idiotic like that. Please, just address me by my name...PLEASE.

I like how that sounds for some reason.
