I get annoyed at tv shows that have short intro's, iin?

I always prefer TV shows that have proper intro's, Friends, Red Dwarf, Only Fools and Horses, Doctor Who, Two and a Half Men, Dexter, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, etc. I noticed a lot of new shows have intro's that for the most part only last around 10 seconds, some even shorter; Mike and Molly, Whitney, Anger Management, How to be a Gentlemen are examples that spring to mind. I think it cheapens the show, IMO a good show should have a memorable theme tune/intro. Am I crazy? Is it normal to think this? Would a show like Friends be so fondly thought of if it had a crummy 10 second intro?

A long intro is crap why waste five minutes when you can squeeze that much more into the show. It would be like "oh season finale tonight its ten minutes longer and they said the intro is all of it" would you really be exited about that saying "oh the long intro means the finale is gonna be better" you mean after like 6 seasons you want to sit there and watch the same long intro for all 60+ episodes. whereas something like breaking bad which is 20 seconds or so gets right to the show, i don't need to fast forward past the same old long boring intro that is insignificant to the show. don't need to watch some guy do his morning routine and get bit by a mosquito every time i flip on dexter, i know what show i just selected and know who dexter is why do i need to see him do his crap EVERY time. like im really curious if you sit and watch the intro every time because to me it is wasting my life add up those 2 minutes you waste every time you watch shows and you've wasted DAYS maybe even WEEKS of your life watching some sing along crap, congratulations.

I don't care how long it is really, but it definitely should be GOOD.

Never crossed my mind until you said it, but I think you've hit on something here. A short intro looks like someone has no faith in the show. Or that it's really cheap. I know that, logically, a short intro means more show, but a long intro means that someone has faith enough in it to have that long intro.

The first four you mentioned (Friends, Red Dwarf, Only Fools and Horses, Doctor Who) actually have very pleasing intros too. I've seen a great proportion of the episodes of each and have never got sick of the intro. To illustrate that, I've seen three of those shows just in the past 36 hours (all repeats). The one I haven't seen is the ubiquitous Friends which is apparently always playing on some channel somewhere in the world. Not near me, though.

I really like the Doctor Who opening. The song makes me happy. Also, all of my experience with Friends comes from this comic: http://archive.picturesforsadchildren.com/214/
