I fucking hate vegetables

I was always told when I was growing up how much I'd love my veggies as an adult but that turned out to be bullshit.

I can't believe that anyone actually looks forward to eating fruit and vegetables. I do eat them since my body requires them for proper health and nutrition but it doesn't mean that I like them.

In fact it's just a monotonous chore to plod through a fucking salad and some steamed broccoli before I get to the good stuff in a meal.

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? How can you vegetarians stand it?

  • You don't like fruit either?
Lately I've been trying to only eat thing grown or hunted. Organic fruits and veggies and meat from the butchery. Anything man made is just crap. I like most meats and plants but hate fastfood and unnatural stuff. I wouldnt even call it food. It's just stuff people eat.

    • I have fruit at breakfast but again, it's just a requirement to get through so I can have my sausage or bacon and bagel or toast.

I never said anything about fast or processed food. That could be another thread in itself, I don't really dislike most of that stuff, it's designed to be tasty. I don't usually eat it since it's just awful for my body.

Salt. Specifically, MSG or Monosodium Glutamate. Although not cancer causing as many people would have you believe, it is very addicting. It causes artificial flavors to taste more like what they are imitating. It's why people say you can't just have one.

    You're doing it wrong, man.

I could give you a bunch of recipes that will make you crave veggies: spicy, creamy curries, dressings and dipping sauces that you practically want to drink, but I won't...since you hate veggies.

There are ways of "hiding" veggies in your food. You learn this shot when you think about cooking for kids.

First off- when you're eating any kind of flavorful soup or sauce, it will disguise somewhat mild taste of vegetables, so you can add cooked puréed veggies without changing the taste of anything, but adding a ton of nutritional content. It works great with marinara sauce.

You can also bake with veggies. You can add zucchini to breads, muffins and even cupcakes. You can't taste the difference at all, and the water content helps keep baked goods moist.

You can add shredded veggies to hamburgers and meatloaf. Again, they don't effect the flavor, but they help keep the meat moist and juicy.

Also...pickling. I love to pickle veggies- they go from tasting like dirt to that crunchy, crisp, vinegary, delicious taste of regular pickles, but with the spicy kick of a radish or the earthy taste of a beet. Pickling is super easy- you should be able to find a recipe online. Give me a pork sammich with pickled radishes, pickled carrots, spicy Thai mayo, and fresh cilantro, and I'll be a happy cunt.

If you're just eating steamed broccoli, it's no wonder you fucking hate vegetables.

depends on how you make em can't stand raw carrots but you put those cut up fine with some bell peppers and snow peas and sautee with shrimp and serve with rice and soy or hoisin sauce you will be happy as a clam. I hate frozen spinach but like it fresh from the salad section of the store sautéed with garlic olive oil red pepper flakes and maybe some parmesan cheese or bacon.

I can't stand raw vegetables, but I love them cooked. Especially broccoli.

But salad.. ugh.. I wouldn't eat it if you paid me to. And my mother has actually tried paying me to in the past. NO thanks, i'm not a rabbit.

Alright, alright sorry. Your best bet is making something tasty and putting vegetables in it. Also perhaps using a blender?

        • I try but the way I understand it the nutritional value is best with a plate of various raw veggies (without a quart of ranch dressing on the side) and not some bits of celery cooked into the stuffing in a pork chop or a few peas in a tuna casserole.

As stated, I do it but it's just a big monotonous chore before I can get down to my pork chop.

            I understand this.
Maybe you're just like that-in my case I hate meat, I hate the smell of it, the texture of it, anything related to meat.
I love vegetables for its sound when I munch them, the freshness and its moisture.
Vegetables are strong food, whereas meat can be comfort food.

Fruit is very good, vegetables are good if you eat them together with the rest of the food,
For example if you got some meat and potato and vegetables with that, if you take some meat some potato and vegetable at the same time its good.

I'd hate having to listen to my own rich inner narrative bitch about the lack of good nutrition a bit more than having to suffer through another fucking salad.

I want some fruit just wring that...Vegetables I can understand the problem...for me it makes a big difference cooking vegetables with something really tasty that hides their taste like I make egg fried rice and put in peas, broccoli, mushrooms.

You are soooo mean. What did those poor little veges do to you to make you hate them so? Veges are really nice and very good friends and not giving them a chance and hating them so, just breaks their little hearts.
Please try not to be so prejudiced and give them a try. I think you'll find they are fun to have around.

  • I've never liked vegetables, and I never ever will. I can handle brocolli if its smothered in cheese sauce, but as far as onions, peppers, carrots and peas etc goes, I can't fucking stand them. I love pasta dishes. I can cook the shit out of almost any really yummy italian saucy cheesy pasta dish. They're delicious. I like fruit though, especially pears and melon.
