I freak out when i smoke weed. need help

okay, im 18 years old. i used to smoke pot when i was 15 (and it was great) but stopped because i got busted, but my big brother and my grandad passed away within 3 months of one another. so i turned to weed to suppress all the feelings. but its like every single time i smoke weed now i flip the freak out. i cant feel my body, i twitch, my mouth feels like a desert, and i feel like im going to die. my heart races, and i feel like my mind cant keep up with my body. i wanna be able to smoke weed and enjoy it, not ball up in my bed and wait till my bad trip goes away.. any advice, or suggestions?

    Stop smoking.
To turn to drugs when life's a bitch is never a good idea. Sorry that you have lost people but weed isn't for you if you have these reactions to it.

On RARE occasions I get a weird feeling when smoking, I then quit instantly and focuses my mind on something for a while and then the weird feeling goes away and I don't touch it for the rest of the night.
Never have I ever experienced a severe reaction such as yours though,

You remind me of this guy who went to the doctor, "It hurts when I do this." he told the doctor and he lifted his arm above his head just so. "Well then, don't do that." the doctor said.
Stop fucking smoking weed you dumbass!

Unfortunately when people come on here in distress it sometimes tends to attract people who love to kick others when they're down by expressing their opinions of you & your situation in quite cruel ways... ignore the nastiness, we're not all like that.

I'm sorry for your losses, but smoking a lot isn't the way to handle it, tempting though it is: I'd say the same if you weren't having bad experiences from the weed.

There is such a thing as bereavement counselling although I guess if you're young & male you may not like the idea - however, I give you the suggestion anyway and wish you well.

Thank you.. It's just been so fucking hard. My brother was 24 and he was my right hand man, best friend, and he knew me better than anyone else. And my Grandad he was also very close to me. My brother was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to work in October. And my Grandad died of heart failue all within the last 4 months of my life. And ever since I've lost them, I just want to sit down and smoke and drink my thoughts away.

From the age of 15 to 17 weed made me laugh my freakin' head off. Sometime after that it was no longer enjoyable and just made me feel like crap, pretty much as you described it. So I stopped smoking altogether. Might be time for you to do the same.

Some of us just aren't meant to enjoy weed. Even if you have in the past, this isn't something you have to force on yourself, just don't smoke weed, its not worth the potential discomfort.

It's called an anxiety (or) Panic attack. I have them, especially when I smoke weed. I smoked from the ages of 14 to 21(Didn't develop Panic attacks til 21.) I'm 29 now and still ocassionally smoke. I take Benzodiazapines to counteract the anxiety and just get the high. I doubt you have access to those.

    E.g. Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonapin.

They tell your body(brain) to relax. They are a minor sedative. They are on the narcotics list in the US. Some states are more lax about handing them out than others.

If you really want to smoke Weed convince a doctor you need them or find someone to buy off the street.

    Otherwise. Don't smoke Weed.

Hey, combining valium/xanax etc with anything else is not a good idea because the effects are unpredictable: I reckon he's having enough problems with the weed without adding other stuff.

I'm surprised valium is still available in the US, it's known to have really bad side effects and withdrawals if used for any length of time because it's addictive. Drs here (Aus) now prescribe temazepam instead, which is supposed not to be anywhere near as harmful: I wouldn't know because I only take it very occasionally for insommnia or migraine, plus painkillers if the latter.

Yes they are addictive. But lets not get carried away. It's not opiates.

The effects of combining benzos with weed is not at all dangerous. Except for what I thought was obvious, that narcotics are addictive. Unless you're a retard and overdose on pills you'll be 100% fine, in fact the entire purpose is to take the panic attack away, which of it in itself is dangerous as it gets you hyperventilating, heart racing/palpitations, high blood pressure, dizziness and fainting.

Well fair enough I guess, I'm just a little wary about adding another drug to counteract "side" effects of original one, not much different to mainstream pharmaceuticals, is it?

Me neither, but if the OP really wants to smoke weed without having anxiety I'm offering him what I appears to be the only option that I can see.

I don't usually provide warnings I'm not the Surgeon General. :X

Fair enought, but I'll bet OP would take more notice of warnings on here than anything the Surgeon General said!
