I found the bristol stool scale!

I just came across the Bristol Stool Scale (poop, not chairs) and MAN am I stoked about it! I didn't know there was an official poop chart. I used to have a poster that depicted all sorts of different turds but it was obscene, not medical.

is it normal that this seems so cool to me?

No word of a lie, as reading this earlier, and heard a loud fart from upstairs followed by a scream. I rushed up to find my 4 year old all upset. She had farted and followed through after having a dodgy belly for a couple of days. It was a type 7. As sorry as I felt or her, I couldn't help but laugh at the irony.

My friend used to have the shit list and the fart chart. Posters from Spencers or something. Lovely.

I used this chart to help my hubby with his pooping problems. His poops were so tough at one point that they were causing him to tear his anus and bleed a lot. I bought him some probiotic shots (drink shots, not needles). Now his poops are the classic #4's, whereas they used to be giant number #3's and #2's.

The probiotics are called "Bio Salud". They are cute little shot-sized bottles that have Spanish text before English text. My hubby started taking one every night, then moved to one every other night. They're cheap, too, at 88 cents per five-pack. I get them at Walmart, tucked away in the yogurt section.

    • Funny you mention this, because this is exactly why I found the chart. I was looking up blood in stool for my husband. He's currently at the hospital going through a load of tests.

I told him prior he needs to work on his diet, I hope this is nothing serious. I'm going to check out the probiotics you mentioned. He didn't have the hard turds though so I'm worried still it may be more than diet but of course bettering the diet would always help no matter what this turns out to be.

I am working as a nursing assistant at the moment. You know what, I have to look at people's poop, refer it to the chart and make a record for the doctors to see. I've seen interesting ones ;-)

I remember watching a reality show about doctors and an old woman was asked to describe her turds using this scale. She wasn't sure which type it fell under so brought along a sample from home for the doctor to classify.
The doctor looked horrified and amused.

Just dropped a few choice type 4's. had them pegged as type 5's but when I checked, definitely type 4's.
