I found it hard to get rid of my childish self

I'm currently an adult ( for those wondering I'm 18 ) and I see myself acting 8 years younger than I really am and acting like a young child all the time. Coming out of my childish self was hard to do but all it took was a lot of incentive to say to myself " You are an adult, don't fool yourself ".

The last thing I ever did was let my childish self go, let it go into the wilderness where I won't see it ever again.

Meh 18 is young.. you were 16 2 years ago
If you can act serious during needed times such as workplace I don't see the issue

Don't conflate growing up and giving up. Obviously you need to be responsible but don't stop having fun. Otherwise life is kind of pointless.

age regression is a normal response to trauma, so if something happened during your childhood that mentally scarred you then that could’ve caused it

If you go on a VC server on discord like daddy server you'll notice how annoying teenagers are

I know how the majority of them act, I however didn't act like my town's/side of the state's teenagers (I didn't even look like a teenager, people thought I was 20 when I was 15)

Pay your bills. Go to work on time. Clean your house. Pay your taxes. Go to the doctor. Don't act like an insufferable temper tantrum throwing cunt.

Those are the adult skills you need. Otherwise, being childlike is bomb and you should do it till you die. Climb trees, blow bubbles, roll around with puppies, watch cartoons in your pj's white eating count chocula. Adulthood is stupid ned flanders level bullshit.

depends on what you mean by childish.. I know people who'd call some of the activities I do childish, yet there's probably "a few" million people who are like that.

Really just depends on what you mean, but yeah - just like bunnyeatscheesecake said. As long as you're capable of acting like an adult when needed it's fine.

People mature at different rates. At least you recognize it, which is one of the signs of maturity.

I've always felt many years younger than I really am and i've been told I am not like others my age even though I always act mature and certainly know people who are openly very childish in a way I would never be able to be openly and not feel embarrassed about myself.

There’s a difference between childish stroppy unreasonable behaviour and childlike behaviour which I consider to be playfulness and allowing yourself to be impressed by things.

You have only recently become an adult, it will take a while for childish behaviours to fade completely, I know many people older than you who still haven’t. I consider losing all your childlike qualities to be a bad thing, people with no playful nature at all who show no wonder at the world around them seem soulless to me. So long as you can be responsible and professional when required there’s nothing wrong with having an inner child.
