I feel weird and isolated being the only employee in the office
I work at a small company which hasn't been doing so well. 2 years ago, the last employee other than me was fired. So from that point on till now, the only people in the office are my boss and I.
Keep in mind I'm a fairly introverted person but having worked in an office with no one else other than my boss for almost 2 years has left me feeling a bit "weird" to say the least. First, I'm not experiencing the sort of bonding and camaraderie with fellow coworkers that my friends all feel. Second, I feel a general sense of isolation when in the office for 7 to 9 hours a day especially during the frequent times my boss is away on business.
Many aspects of this job aren't that idea (pay, commute, opportunities for promotion) but it feels the isolation factor makes it intolerable. Is it normal to have this desire to work on a team rather than work in (almost) complete isolation, all other factors being equal?
In short, is it normal to "hate" my job because I'm not working with anyone (not even clients) other than my boss?
