I work for a city agency. I'm the only white guy in a crew of 6 people. The rest are all black or Hispanic. They all get along fine. They leave me out of their "clique". Nothing racial is said but it is so clear that being white is the reason. Is this normal? In this day and age are we still so hung up on racial shit like this? I need this job so I can't quit. A transfer will take months so I have to grin and bear it. It's so unfair. I feel so lonely on this job. What to do?

    I'm Hispanic and black and I hate when people do that and sometimes it does have to deal with race which sucks. Can't we all get along and end this racist shit.

    Welcome to the world of not belonging. You're fine. Not everything is always gonna work out just the way you want it to, so you learn to deal with it.

    It doesn't sound like anything racial. Cultural might be the better term.

    Being outnumbered sucks especially if the people are not inviting to the minority. It can happen to any kind of race or person and it stinks and makes people feel lonely.

    Oh poor little you. You have a good job, but that's not enough. You want to be one of the 'cool kids', just like in high school.
    I'd bet dollars to donuts it ain't your color, but the same thing that kept you from being 'cool' in school.

    What if these guys were all the same race as you and you still did not get along with them? It's just like that. It happens.
