I feel like something has been ripped out of me after watching a movie

I watched a movie and feel like something has been ripped out of me, not similar to a break up but I have this since 2 days and I find it weird.

Do you know this feeling when a movie makes you happy but dissapointed at the same time ? that's normal for me but I never had this feeling of having something ripped out of me before , maybe a motivation from a movie yes but not this kind of feeling, it disturbs me, it's like I want to watch 3000 other movies to compensate for this emptiness .?

anyone relate ?

not sure what you mean, but i've never made myself watch a sad/depressing movie. maybe something similar that happens sometimes is when I'm watching a movie and see how happy the people are and how awesome their lives are, and if i let myself start thinking about my life and how bad it is, then i start crying/ feel like my heart is ripped out.

Yea I think it's normal to feel completely drained after watching a movie. That happened to me after reading a book

I always feel kinda drained and depressed after watching Requiem for a Dream, but I love that movie so much.

Parts of A Scanner Darkly too....

It's so strange that you should mention Requiem for a Dream, since that was the film I was alluding to in my comment. It's so miserable, isn't it? It just gets worse and worse:(. Great film, though, I liked it a lot.

Hehe, I wondered what movie you were talking about. And yeah, it's pretty bad... I don't watch it often because I'll probably end up either bawling or cowering in the arms of whoever I'm sitting next to. :/ Especially the one part with the girl...

But it's got to be that way. The spiral of heroin addiction is about as far from a feel good story as you can get.

Yeah, I agree, they couldn't have really got the message across with a happy ending. As depressing as it might sound, I actually like that there are films out there which don't try to put a positive twist on everything. It's not a film I can see myself watching often, but it does sort of linger.

I agree, I like films that echo reality at least to a certain extent. I don't think I've watched it in a couple years, and not sure when the next time will be though I'm sure I'll watch it again at some point.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I get the exact same feeling. I watched a film a few weeks ago and by the end of it I felt drained. Although I loved the film, it's *so* depressing. Is that what you mean? Like you had the happiness sucked out of you or something like that? I'm a bit confused. Anyway, I think it's normal to have a strong reaction to a film. Or at least it's normal for me.:)

What film was it, by the way? I'm very curious now:P.
