I feel bad if i go into a store and don't buy anything.

If I go into a store and don't buy anything I always feel bad about it. Especially if I am asked if I was looking for anything. In fact sometimes I feel like I NEED to buy SOMETHING, even if I don't need/want it, just not to feel bad. I don't feel that bad it it is a big store like Wal-Mart but a small store where I am seen going in and leaving with nothing, makes me feel guilty. IIN?

it is normal, its exactly how they want you to feel, how else would they make money?
but you cant let it get to you or else you will waste money and their plan will work.

i used to get it really bad but i am improving. i try to say something like "thanks anyway" or "not exactly what i was looking for" etc if they were being nice. of course if something is blatantly overpriced i either tell them so or tell my friends really loudly so they can hear and then leave. feels good man.

I'm the same way! The worst is if the employee is really nice & helpful. Or if your the only one in the store, then I really feel guilty. At least if more customers are in the store I don't feel as bad, since I think maybe they'll buy something.

Same, and it's REALLY bad when I go to a garage sale and don't buy anything, I feel soooo wierd about it! Or if I go check out something advertised on craigslist or the paper and I decide not to buy it.....SUPER wierd!

I just realized too that when I leave a store without buying anything I always feel like they think I'm stealing something and I'm going to be stopped on my way out!

I feel the exact same way! We have this shop that does these free samples of drinks, all you have to do is walk in there and get some. And my friend does it ALL the time and i feel really bad, because after she just walks out. Now though i don't go in the shop when she does it i just stand outside.

also the more positive or neutral contact you make with a person the more attached to them you feel, subsequently you feel that they have provided you with a service (this is usually an illusion) and thus you have to buy something to pay them back. but yeah you owe the store nothing. remember that the customer is always right.

Well, that only happens when to me when:
    1.- I`m poor.
2.- They do not have what Im looking for.

So, mostly is their fault but I feel a little guilty for take their time listening to me and giving me some advices on their products.
