I feel as if i'm floating at the moment i begin to fall asleep

Whenever (only works sometimes) im about to fall asleep i tell myself "try to know the moment you fall asleep" and when i do i feel as if though im floating when i breathe in and i sink into my mattress when i breathe out. It feels like my spirit is coming out of my body( i can physically feel it!) is this a mental feeling that goes to my senses or do i really feel it? Is this normal?

You're meditating without knowing it. I wish I could have this feeling. :/

Sometimes, before I go to sleep, it feels a little bit like the bed and/or I are being rocked about very, very gently.

This is quite rare for me, though. More often, I feel heavier and seem to 'sink in' to the bed.

As far as I'm aware, it's totally normal and nothing to be afraid of.

It might be Lucid Dreaming. I do it allot.
I don't know if I do it all the time, though.

Sometimes, when I begin to "really" sleep, I feel like I'm floating very softly almost as if I'm being comforted.... It could also be going into the REM Cycle.

Could it be an Out of Body Experience?

Actually I use this as a technique to go to sleep. Its a type of meditation. And it relaxes the body and the mind till you go to sleep. :) Its completely normal, thats how most insomniacs get to sleep.

I don't know if it's normal or not, but it sounds interesting...

Have you researched into lucid dreaming?
