I fear airplanes flying overhead

i am afraid of airplanes when they fly overhead. i picture them breaking up over me and their parts falling on my house and crushing me, or i fear the airplane (if it sounds too loud and i'm inside and can't see it) is going to crash land into my house and kill me. it is a morbid curiosity and i have to watch planes passing overhead as though i am staring at (potential) car crashes...waiting for the disaster to happen.

  • The chances of that happening are so low. You're worried for nothing.

I have the same thing! I thought I was crazy, everyone just laughs when I tell them. I get so scared when I hear a plane or a helicopter fly over my house,I feel like it is going to crash into my house and kill me or something like that. It was only the other day that a helicopter was circling over my house.

I have the same fear. It is pretty intense, and gets more intense the lower they are. Small planes just freak me out period. But I have the same fear, so you are not alone. My friends joke about it but it really is serious, and I have nearly driven off the road because I can't take my eye off the plane just in case something happens. I need to know where it is until it's impossible for me to see it anymore. I am currently trying to find a therapist to help me through the phobia. Look for a therapist who does "CBT" (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Exposure Therapy. I'm not looking forward to it but it's the only way to get rid of the phobia.

    Good luck!
