I eat meat but i hate how many meat eaters treat vegetarians/vegans

I am a meat eater. I have no qualms about eating virtually every and any type of animal (except endangered animals and maybe cetaceans and apes), regardless of how cute they look or act. On the other hand, I often get a bit irritated, sometimes angry, at how many people bash and taunt vegetarians and vegans. I mean it's a food choice that doesn't hurt anyone. How would you feel if somehow a bunch of people from say Uganda started taunting you because you choose not to eat locusts?

Anyways, is it normal to be irked by this?

I'd only say shit to a vegetarian or vegan who is parading around on their high horse being a douche. Particularly if they clearly haven't a clue about vegetarianism.

    It rarely happens.

Vegetarians like that kind of embarrass me... I never bother people with my choice to not eat certain animals but my ex girlfriend used to do that. I guess every lifestyle has its loudmouths lol

People like that are embarrassing in general :P

There's very few of them, though.

My aunt very occassional tella me of the benefita I'd get from going veggo...but from her, it's not judgemental or pushy, and she does know her stuff. She's raised two veg kids and they're the healthieat kids in our family.

What a lot of people don't realise, is that even as omnivores, we really need to cut down on how much meat we eat, and if we educate ourselves, we can balance the nutrition.

I have never given a second thought as to whether or not another person ate meat, and was unaware this was an issue.

I am amazed at how many things people think are issues that really never enter my world.

The same could be said to vegetarians/vegans who treated meat eaters badly.

Pretty much. I've dealt with asshole vegetarians/vegans before because I used to have pet chickens but would eat chicken from KFC or the store. They would say tings like "I feel sorry for your chickens" or "it's disrespectful to your chickens to eat meat." They were such dumbasses. I know they're not all like that, but the ones I dealt with irritated the hell out of me.

They're way too obsessed with their belief to the point they irritated and annoyed others just like your situation there.

The same is said for them. It's said for them all the time.
The is the first time, though, that I've heard a meat eater stick up for us without being prompted, and I've dealt with a lot of hell from meat eaters.

I used to know this rude bitch who claimed to be a vegetarian and wouldn't shut her trap when I was trying to eat a delicious steak. I can't tell you how much happier I am that we're not friends anymore.

Never met someone who made fun of someone being vegan / vegetarian. That's pretty fucked up.
I wish I was able to be one but I love meat too much :/

Actually, IMO it's more often the other way around.
The vegans and vegetarians jump up on their soap boxes deriding all the carnivores for eating meat ("Oh, I never eat anything with eyes" is my favorite). It's like we are baby killers because we enjoy our meat.
My only beef with vegetarians is that so many are completely ignorant of the dietary necessities if one chooses not to eat meat.

My God, thank you. I got teased so much when I stopped eating meat! My own mother said that it was a "sin" because God had put the animals on Earth for me to control and eat.

      Plot twist!

We were never meant to eat animals. God created us to be vegetarians and it was a sin to eat Gods creatures.

But because the flood destroyed the crops and the lands, he allowed us to eat animals after that, so we didn't starve.

Tell your Mum that one (:

Yeah I actually noticed that when I was reading the bible! He tells them right after the flood. Seriously, people have used the Bible as an excuse to do bad things to animals up until very recently.

Humans only really developed the great intellect that we possess once meat became a bigger portion of our diet thanks to the discovery and use of fire to cook meat. The high caloric density of meat gave our brains the energy necessary to function closer to peak levels. Eat a steak and go read a book.

I know that, asshole. I'm a fucking biology major. Don't lecture me about science.

I was just saying, claiming a religious "right" to treat animals any way you want is utter bullshit. I think all life has intrinsic value.

And I think it has dietary value . Btw I'm atheist

It's sort of an issue of religious tolerance. Go ahead and eat your locusts.
