I dream about my father being alive when he died years ago...

My father died when i was almost 12 yrs old of cancer.
Sometimes i dream about seeing him in someplace random, like a store or walking through a park.
I see him and he smiles at me..
I run up to him and burst out crying while he's hugging me...
I'm begging him not to go, but somehow my arms are empty & he walks away from me while I cant seem to move or follow him...
I wake up with my pillow drenched with tears and I am so sad...
does this happen to everyone who has lost someone??

    yes it is very common. my father died 10 yrs ago and i dream about him all the time, similar to your dream.

    This brought tears to my eyes. You must love and miss your Dad so very much. I think you are big hearted, grieving and very normal.

    this is very saddening. i havent experienced it myself. but relatives i have lost have been in my early childhood, i didnt really understand what was going on so i dont think i acknowledged there loss.

    oh God im teared up a little yes i understand my Dad died of colon cancer when i was eight now my mom has cancer and i fear her passing you should never have to burry a parent

    It's a simple grieving process. Him leaving you in you dream resembles him leaving when he passed away. Sorry for your loss :( As sad as those dreams might be, be grateful that your father comes and visits you!

    why dont you try to talk to him? Ask him questions? try to do something that you will like to feel, listen, see, ect. Good luck. and i do think this is normal.

    My mum died in 2000 and I still have dreams about her. Its normal to still dream about someone that important in our lives. I feel its a sort of way to keep in touch with the memory of them.

    I'm really sorry to hear that. You must miss him very much. Be strong, my friend, if you're a religous person, you know he's up there watching over you.
