I dont like when people say i am pretty

I get smug, I guess. Fine if someone says I'm pretty then moves onto something else. But, don't bother me. I can't stand it.

    • Craap, that made me laugh!

See, that's normal. My real friends are like that.

Well unfortunately you live in a world where there exist other humans. Why not take the complement? There are people who wish they were told they were pretty... would you rather be told you are ugly or fat?

Quite honestly your "problem" is ridiculous. ..omg whoa is me im so pretty everyone always tells me this...such a bother! My looks arnt for you peasants! How dare you look upon me and tell me im pretty!
Thats how you sound right now...

Its one thing to not care if other people tell you this...and to dress for yourself...its quite another to complain about a positive complement.

I generally take the polite rout and thank people for the complements.

      I agree with you, Reminiscent!

    • You still don't get it. Its not just a compliment. Its people being too friendly. I know the difference. It doesn't happen if I talk to new people online. There we're all neutral. Its nice. We just talk about stuff we like. That's how it is with my real friends. If they say a compliment? Its nice. Even I compliment people who look nice.

People can come up to you and say something nice...thats just friendliness or being polite... if they touch you or wont leave you alone then you can complain...
maybe it seems too friendly to you because its a face to face interaction rather then an online one

        • Thanks for attempting to understand, but no, that's not quite it. :-) Its the whole eye gazing crap, I hate. Now, do you get it? Those people are not my real friends.

I don't like being told that either. It makes me feel like this: http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/232/114/e39.png

I agree with you actually. I'm a guy but I don't like telling girls they're pretty unless I intend to say something else after that or get into some sort of conversation. And I don't usually like talking to people who I don't know anyway. Saying a girl is pretty is a harmless little compliment but it seems a little awkward to go out my way to say it. And I don't want to make a girl feel uncomfortable after she says thank you and I feel like I should say something else after that.

No one like strangers who act too familiar or forward with us...I get it...its like they dont respect your personal boundaries...but what if you never recieved attention...and became just another totally ignored peon like the rest of us...could you stand that either...most girls and guys too I guess realize that how you dress has a big influence on that....dress down if you want less attention

  • That's not the point. I don't want the attention. I have been ugly. Well, not really. Honestly, I look back on my pics. I thought I was ugly then. Nope. I looked good, at least I like my looks for ME alone. I kind of morphed from 17-22. Now, its annoying. So, I keep my hair in a pony tail. I wear baggy clothes. I don't wear makeup. It still doesn't work. I like my friends that don't care.

I can relate. I don't want the first thing people say to me being " You look good/sexy/cute/whatever" it's creepy and quite frankly annoying. I think that one must have been there to actually GET IT.

You easily notice when people are too friendly.

The older I get the less I care what anybody thinks of me and it feels nice.
