I dont like the artists of today

I think the music industry is one big circus and alot of the artist's are the clowns. Almost half of the artist don't have real or true talent and i know that the only way many of them have made it into the industry is through sex, money and being related to someone already established in the industry.I believe the industry is one big hoax and they make people that dream of being a famous or successful artist that really is talented think he or she can get into the business just so they will continue making them rich by buying their c.D.'s and keeping up with them. Think about it..If they let everyone in the industry that had talent, then who would buy their c.D.'s and you might be a threat to the so called good artist already out. If i must name monica-horrible.All she does is yodle and do runs, but she never takes you there. Alicia keyS-she sounds like she has asthma and has lost her voice due to excessive screaming and as far as the piano, she plays the basic keys on the piano.Bottom line the industry is f.U

Mainstream artists always suck, in my opinion. They are molded by big corporations (like Justin Bieber and The Spice Girls) to appeal to the masses of braindead, uncreative people who will listen to music that is "in" or "popular" instead of exploring any other different type of music that's out there. I agree with what you said about the industry. Look @ Lady Gaga. The music industry, like Hollywood eats up and spits out people every day. The website vigilantcitizen.com just came to my mind for some reason-check it out-I think you'll like it. I think the industry killed Amy Winehouse too. She started out strong in her singing career, but they told her to "lose weight" (not like she needed to!) therefore she started doing drugs. Her performances became messy, and I think the industry had enough of her-that is my opinion. Ever hear of the 27 club? Kurt Cobain-Janis Joplin-Jimmy Hendrix-Amy Winehouse all died at age 27. Coincidence?

i can understand why you feel that way. however, monica and alicia are some of the few that are able to hold a note and do exhibit *a little* talent, and you are right, they arent the very best. i guess its just a matter of what the listener is into.
the industry is overloaded with priveleged friends among friends. and the good artists are left out becuase they truly are original, which scares the industry because the industry cannot profit off of individuality and originality as much as it can conformity. and the fads are recycled. remember when lil kim came out with the pink hair/different color hair? then almost everybody had pink wigs? then it went out. then here comes Nicki Minaj about 17 years later with the same type style. its sad, really.

You aren't alone, just listen to Led Zeppelin all day 24/7! That and some Johnny Cash and AC/DC is all you need.

Radio-one of the last things to be free and it totally sucks b/c of commercialism. Popular musicianship-the worlds newest "oldest profession". Goddamnit, i want to turn on the radio and hear something good at least half the time, instead of having to mess around w/ mp3 player or cds all the time. Some parts of the world are not yet overrun by popular crap, but i just moved to a place where popcrap of every genre is the only option.

In a way I agree with you, though I believe there are still some good songs here and there.

That is why I want to create my own music and make it meaningful, whether I am "famous" or not. I just want to get it out there and bring music back to the way it is supposed to be, even if it's only to a small amount of people. At least that's what I'm going to attempt.

same here, it seems almost everything now is done with a lack of effort. music, movies, cars, even appliances. it all boils down to maximum profit. thats why i drive an old chrysler and listen to pink floyd. Still, not all new stuff is bad. Nickelback and shinedown are pretty awesome.
