You should research Temple Grandin. She was a very high funtioning member if society and she had a fairly prominant mental disability. She has made a huge and long lasting impression on many procedures in the farming and slaughter house communities. And before you say something of a horrible joke about a "tard" and slaughter.... As a person with a mental disability, she has turned one of the most barbaric, close minded, inhumane, and animalistic things us "NORMAL" people did without thinking twice. I completly agree with the whole school thing. They take away from the normal kid's education and it's not right because they will never have a future.

My fiance works with mentally ill people in a care home and she loves her job. However, I am more with you and if our first child is mentally not there, we won't be having another.

1. Someone needs to learn the difference between a "mentally ill" person and a "mentally retarded" person.

Hello, I am one of those mentally ill people you are talking about. I am the smartest girl in the school but I just happen to have problems controlling my emotions and paying attention. I know some people you would call retards and some of them are actually very smart. They are in special needs classes because they need a different learning enviorment. "Normal" kids are usally gossiping, making a**es of themselves, or fall asleep in class (I could make a really long list but I think you get my point.) while we work hard to make good grades despite our problems. In summary: f**k you, you stupid a**hole! I bet you have an IQ of 80! Your a worthless piece of sh*t! I bet I earn grades that you can only dream of! You shouldn't be allowed to reproduce!

And lest we forget the thousands upon thousands of "normal" students, these wastes of flesh, who fuck off and don't give two shits about their education, IF they even attend school. Compared to them, someone who is mentally challenged will actually LEARN and possibly truly benefit from some form of government/state funded education. Delinquent students are no less a burden on the education system than the bottom %50 of 'normal' kids in most public schools in this country.

The rest of these "normal" kids need to sack up get their shit together, because my terror for the future is not @ all due to the scores of mentally challenged who may or may not make it; it's due to the millions of ignorant, naive and apathetic kids who never learn - people like you. i never understood trying to educate a retard. its a huge waste of time for something that bound to fail from the start. i too think the should be killed at birth. i am terrified of retards and will leave when ever on comes around. im also scared of old people. the freak me way out. this society spends 9 times more money taking care of old people that dont know who the are and never have a chance of becoming better than the spend on the children. dont feel bad about how u feel. it might not be normal but it is correct.

lets say u have a kid in about 15 years. you find out its a boy. before birth you choose the name charles. hes born with mental retardation. hes sent to a "special school" and never learns to socialize normally. or, like in other societies, he is killed.

Why should mentally ill human beings have an education when they will make no contribution to society whatsoever. Well I guess there is somewhat of a point in teaching metally challeged kids new things,some can actually benefit a bit and live somewhat normal lives but I can understand that money shouldnt be put to much into this topic.If they want to learn they should have the chance but I whouldnt exagerate it like what a average or gifted person chould do.There is a thing called trying to hard.

Also mentally ill and menatally challedged are to completely different things.One can't comprehend as much and is born with disablities.The other "ill"is more of a physosological aspect.And often can be solved with medicine or theraphy.And most mentally ill people are seemilngly smart.
