I dont like femininizing of the american man
I hear the term toxic masculinity being thrown around and I understand that examples of it like screaming at a baby to stop crying and toughen up is bad. But I dont think masculinity in itself is bad at all. I see masculinity as being essential for a society to function. I think of a masculine man being a brave person, not being afraid to speak his opinion even if unpopular, a good leader, someone whos strong mentally and does not crack under pressure, someone who defends his family and country, a dependable person, someone who does not gossip, someone who respects others, someone who does not make excuses for himself when he fails, someone whos not afraid to do things that has to be done (like the men letting the women and children off the Titanic knowing theyre gonna freeze to death within an hours time), being able to contain his emotions and keep composure.
I feel we coddle young men too much and we teach them their emotions are more important than anything. But we need to be raising tougher men I feel that its essential for society to function. I know it sounds dramatic to say but I think it is that important. Feelings are important but sometimes things have to get done and its not pretty. Sometimes you will hurt peoples feelings by doing what needs to be done.
