I dont know how or why this happens

im american, i live on the east coast and im told i have an accent. i hear this aceent when im somewhere else in the country and thats fine and expected.
however sometimes i notice ill be talking and someone i word will come out southern sounding, british, or russian. more russian and southern. i dont mean for this to happen, it just does. im not of russian or british decent mind you.
and it doesnt help to fact that i dont look american. most people say i look eastern european. and they ask and im like "im american" and they refuse to believe me and the swear i have an accent.

i dont want people thinking im crazy or something. it just how things get pronouced involuntarly sometimes i guess.

is this normal? how about you?

    I do this on occasion. I mimic sounds I hear and some accented words get stuck in my head. I find it amusing. I just spent some time with a friend from New England and find myself using the word "wicked" far more frequently than normal.

    And how can you not look "American"?

    I talk to bus drivers in an Australian accent. I dont know why.

    picking up regional slang words is a little differant then popping out an accent involuntarly mid sentance.
    i know where your coming from.

    i ghet told i look european all the time. im taller and more fitthan most woman and i have pale skin with dark eyes and hair. they say i have an eastern eupoean face and look and i guess their brains tricks them into thinking i really am. then people like to argue with me and tell me im not from the US and they think im lying. and this accent thing doesnt help.
    the speech thing deosnt happen all the time. but its kinda embarrassing
