I don't want to stick with one career in life?

I finally feel as if I've resolved my issues with "what should I do for the rest of my life?"

Instead of sticking with one career until I'm 60+, I'd much rather do several.

Now, my questions are 1: IIN? and 2: Is it possible that my retirement can be cared onto all these?

Right now, I'm in my early 20s and I've a retirement plan, but I'm unsure how it works in full. All I do know about it is that my retirement $$ will be transferred to any company or place I work at within my county (so roughly 30 minutes or so away max.).

I am wondering if I decide to become a teacher at an elementary school, but decide its not for me and within 6 or so years, I step down from it..will I lose the retirement money that I could've been adding up there or, will it still be placed into my plan? I'm guessing it will, but am unsure.

See, I'd love to be many things one of which includes owning my own business, but with that, I can't aquire anymore retirement $$ so am hoping to do that much later on in life when I'm at least 35.

Thank you in advance! Does this sound crazy? IIN?!!?

As for your retirement plan...they all differ. When it comes to having different professions I say go for it! You'll never be bored in life and will learn a lot along the way. Great to see such motivation in someone so young! I'm proud of you!

your 20 and you dont know what happens with your retirement fund? did they teach anything in your school? did you go to University to study to be a teacher, you kinda have to do that. are you planning on doing any business studies to learn how to run your own business? i dont think you have thought this through properly but good luck to you anyway.

They don't teach about pensions or finance in general at any school I went to. In fact, I'm pretty sure everybody I know in their 20s now doesn't have a firm understanding of what happens with pensions / retirement money. Count yourself lucky if your education included that useful information because most people's don't.

    • Uhm, I know in general what happens, but I am on a plan that isnt of the norm. Also, I did go to uni already and have a degree in arts(2 yrs studied) AND teaching(2 yrs studied) so I could do that. I have also taken 2 business classes in a college just to better understand how it works.

well if your retirement plan is not normal then dont you think you should talk to whoever you organised it with? you only studied for 2 years in teaching? well im not sure how things work where you are but you have to study 4 years to be a teacher here. i think you are looking for answers in the wrong place.
