I don't want to live with her even if i love her to death

My girlfriend will move to another city this fall as he has to go study. We don't live in the same city as it is and see eachother twice a month. We've been together for a couple of years and really don't want to lose her. I do not trust long distance relationships. I live with my parents and we've never been in the best of parent-son relationship. I tried moving away a year and a half ago but they made me come back. And now my girl insists I go away with her, but it's childish, we can't do such thing. it is a really stupid idea. i honestly do not know what to do...
