I'm not planning on getting married anytime soon and yes I am a girl. I still want to get married i just don't want the big celebration that comes with it. i'd rather just sign the papers and go on a honeymoon. i'd prefer the wedding day to be more intimate.
having to tell my family this (when i'm older) is another thing...

I agree. I'm a guy and its a big waste of money just for this public display of love that is not even necessary. It pisses me off that girls look forward to this their whole life. It's a personal thing between two people.
I agree; weddings are a complete waste of time. Getting married should be something personal between you and your partner. I honestly don't even think the family should be involved.
Wow...this could have been me writing this. When I got married to my husband, we invited just a few of our closest friends and family and had the ceremony in Europe. I literally bought a dress and our plane tickets and left. We didn't even know where we would hold the ceremony until we got to Austria and I spotted this adorable little church in the Alps on a morning jog. Needless to say, this was a very very special day for me and unlike my friends who had planned for months for the big wedding and then had the big affair, I remember the whole thing and had a ton of cash to instead spend on our honeymoon -- 3 more weeks travelling across Europe. Not doing the big wedding thing and doing this instead was the best decision I ever made. Good luck.

Love has nothing to do with papers and dresses. It would be normal if you didnt want a wedding at all.
Why tell them when you're older? Start now and then it won't be a surprise.
