I don't understand. why? it is not normal, right?

Why are people clammering to the moral understanding of people who lived thousands of years ago?

Wouldn't it be advisable to have a 21-century discussion on morality and ethics, without giving special focus to certain books? After all, we know for a fact that these books were written by people who merely by their placement in history knew less about the world than any of us do?

How do people claim that certain books are perfect, although we all know that they contain more inaccuracies and pure bullshit than Donald T., Vladimir P. and Bill C. together? Isn't it obvious that the notion about a certain book - especially if it is covering a variety of topics which develop over time - being infallible and perfect cannot possibly be true?

Would they still believe these books were perfect if it weren't hammered into their heads from early childhood on?

You're right. This kind of behaviour is crazy. 5
You're wrong. We need to go back to the x.th century. 3

People don't need books just greed. If we were all blue there would still be countries that wanted what a diff country had. If you were from England you could get a tat or wear certain clothes when invading a country for it's resources.

You're going to hell for wearing mixed fabrics! Lol just kidding. Yeah I hear church people in my community saying things like "We need to go back to how things were; we've lost our traditional values!" And I'm like do you really want to burn people for being witches and let husbands beat their wives? It's really easy to claim that something is the ultimate truth and never question it. It takes brains to at least question it, even if you don't end up fully rejecting the idea after some contemplation.

People in general long for things to believe in. They want explanations for the things that happen, and don't want to believe it's all just random. Me, I think people try way too hard to find order in chaos, but hey, whatever gets you through the night is alright, it's alright.
