I don't understand the fascination/love for disabled folk

When I say "disabled folk" I don't mean those with a bit of learning troubles, or high function. I mean those with downs, or those who are severely handicapped, the stereotypical "special ed" kid.

I don't grasp why people have this huge love for people with disabilities, and it pops up as being okay. 7 billion people in the world, and we don't have "broken products"? Maybe someone can comment why this is, but to me it just feels like folk are lying to themselves, one of the greatest running sessions of cognitive dissonance: "Oh, look at how loving and accepting we are!"

honestly i don't get it either, and to be honest i dislike being around people like that. i know i might sound mean to some but i have aspergers and because of that i was often lumped into the special ed classes at school with people who weren't even able to form proper sentences. we never got anything done because someone would either be breaking down or winding each other up until a fight broke loose.

it was alright though because watching them throw desks at the teachers and having a meltdown was funny as fuck.

  • Hid one comment for resorting to namecalling and not not answering the question. I understand that disabled folk are people, like "You and me."

What I don't understand is folks' excessive worship of the disabled, like they can do no wrong and as if they're held up on a pedestal. Gods forbid I want to treat the disabled as PEOPLE right? Instead of coddling and patronizing as if disabled can do no wrong.

    That'd be meaaaaaaaaaan. :((((

It's for attention. Popular girls post about disabled people when they don't even like normal people.
