I don't think its normal!

Question...Well first to start off, I got a computer for my birthday. It was assembled from different parts we had around the house like an extra monitor and tower, etc. So my Operating System is Windows 2000 and runs reasonably well.

Well, the past few days, randomly, when I'm on the internet or playing music on Media Player, all of a suddenly if I click a link or exit out of something, it will randomly not show my icons or the bottom bar. Like I can see my background and all, but there are no icons and I can basically do nothing on my computer. It just arbitrarily happens when I do not see it coming. It gets annoying and I have to restart my computer so I can do stuff again.

Has anyone ever encountered a problem like that before? Do you know if there is a way to fix it?

Thanks!

Could it be a virus? Why don't you take it to a shop and see if they can help resolve your problem?

This used to happen to me. I had Win 2000 too. I think it's a bug with the operating system, logging out and then in again used to work for me, and it's quicker than a restart.

instead of restarting you can just open up the task manager, log yourself off and log back in
It should fix the problem, if not then...get a actual computer???

Sounds like you may want to consider reinstalling Windows.

I have a newer Mac OS X, and have had two or three Mac's before it. Not to mention the Gateway and the two or three Dells. All of them have moved from Family computers to personal ones passed down for me or one of my 4 siblings and my 4 parents. There's also a laptop in the mix and my two gramma's computers. A max and a really old PC. None of the Mac's have ever run into that problem that I am aware of. Seeing as how yours is a mis matched on from lose parts laying around the house maybe its just a problem with the fact that it wasn't built as a whole. Try getting a member of the Geek Squad to look at it ( computer maintanace type deal.) Even still I would look into getting a newer Mac.

Stop calling people retards you idiot. I have dealt with Macs my entire life and there isn't a single Mac that you can buy for at or under 600 and still have it run properly. Do some homework before you start acting stupid. Macs are the number one selling computer in the world. You honestly expect a price that low?

  • Yeah I can help you... Put a picture of Barack Obama on your back ground and that should help you forget your computer problems.

  • Have you tried going to windows site and looking for any updates? Seems to me there should be a fix for that somewhere on their site. It used to be a problem with 2000.

Apple macs are honestly not cheap, and its best u try updating ur pc, because if its an older version it might be just having problems, and if you update it, it may stop the problem ur having, if that does not help then you should invest in a new computer, because windows 2000 is good but not supported by anything anymore
