I don't listen to songs that others have heard already?

If I know that somebody else in my family has heard a certain song then I won't listen to it. I don't know why I think like this, I just do.

Is it normal?

I'm the same. I won't listen to anything that anyone has listened to. If the group making the music has heard it, I won't listen. I'll only listen to things where the people making the music don't know how it sounds.

I have to say, it's been very disappointing so far. A proper shower of shit.

But sometimes things that other people like turn out to be things I like too. It's almost like people are similar or something or that there's a shared experience or taste!

    • Yeah, it is silly once you really think about it, and I realize this, but I can't really change how my mind works.

You should develop your own taste in music and not let your tastes be affected by those around you.

The only person who loses by your actions is you, but I guess if you are really cheap, it saves you a ton on downloaded music. Good plan!

It is strange, but one of my friends actually doesn't listen to songs that she knows someone in her family has listened to just because she doesn't want to have the same taste of music like them. She said that she doesn't want to end up listening and liking all their tastes of music because it is "uncool."

I'm the same way. I usually play my music really loud in my house if my sisters sing along i delete the song.

Yeah,I do that too. I'm really into Metal/Rock and when everyone drool over the same band in that genre I just can't go listen to it. I really don't want to give the band a chance because everyone is loving it. If I do end up listening to it, I'll classify it as overrated. I'm ashamed at how hipster this sounds ahah.

    • Yeah, I like listening to artists such as My Cat Is An Alien, Yuminale, Windy & Carl, etc.
I know that probably makes me sound like a hipster, but I just really don't care for most of today's popular music.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I like well known artists such as Moby, Brian Eno, and other artists that don't come to mind at the moment.

It's just that usually the artists who aren't as well known have kinda a different feel to their music, I don't know how to explain it.

I'm kind of like that. Only with my family or really close friends, though. And I'm usually in a bad mood at the time. I think it's cause I'm worried they'll sing along or say something about it.
