I don't like the frames they sell at the optician

I went to the optician yesterday and they confirmed that I need new glasses. So I looked through all of their frames and couldn't find a single one that I really liked. All they had were either something that a hipster would wear or these 80s-style frames, which I don't like. I bought the pair I have now in 2011 and they're a lot better-looking. Thicker frames, boxier, not huge like these hipster glasses, etc. I asked them if they still had these kind of frames left, but they don't. What the fuck am I going to do now? I don't want to wear these ugly-ass frames.

    You can order glasses from shops online if you have your prescription and measurements. Why don't you give browsing online a shot?

    Yea, selection sucks sometimes.
    But, find any frame you like.
    They can put your lenses in.
    Don't limit yourself to one store.
    Some on line places will send you several frames to sample.
    Don't sweat it.
    Good lenses is where you pay.

    As long as you have the prescription you can go elsewhere. They HAVE to hand over the prescription. You paid for the eye exam.

    Plenty of places to buy ones that are stylish and that you would like besides the Optician. Again, you can just give them the one you're using and they can replace the glass, unless it is damaged, of course.

    If you think you can cope for up to a week without your glasses, you can give them your existing frames and ask them to put the new lenses in. This is what I do. That way, even though I can't see very well for a week, at least I get the same good old frames! You should consider getting a pair for spares though, even if you don't like them. That way, if you're in this situation again, you would be able to wear the spares for a week whilst your old frames are being fitted with new lenses.
