I don't like music made after 1980

...and I'm only 22. It's pretty much always been that way. I remember when I was a young teen that I tried to get into the music that my classmates liked, but after a while I stopped pretending that I enjoyed it and stuck to oldies.

There are a few exceptions - "Mad World" by Tears for Fears and "Does He Love You?" by Rilo Kiley come to mind - but they are the exceptions rather than the rule.

    Hiya,

I tire of modern music quickly, unless it really means something to me. I get on better with older people because we like the same bands! A lot of my favourites have been going for years – that wouldn't happened if they weren't good. When I listen to them I don't have a care in the world.

The only problem with liking older stuff is that you've got that panic in the back of your head that they'll split up or worse when you've only seen them once; but you can see modern bands any time (within reason of course).

It's fine as long as you don't hate on people for liking new music.

I personally love today's music as well as oldies. I enjoy different songs for my different moods

I'd say it's normal. I'm glad you don't like any of today's music, I don't either. I like a lot of the 90's music becuase I listened to it when growing up and some of Avril Lavigne (like old songs) but I absolutely hate todays music!

My sister listens it C100 and The Bounce (I hate those stations, especially The Bounce, since they took out the only oldies station that was left around here)! Some of the lyrics in today's music is really dumb and sick. Feels people heads with garbage in my opinion.

with less than a handful of exceptions, I only like music made before 1998.

Well, in like the 70's what was -popular- was more interesting than today's popular music. But there's still incredible music being made today, you just might not be hearing it on the radio as much. I doubt you've given it enough exploration beyond the mainstream.
