I don't like hanging pictures on my walls!

I prefer family photos, wedding photos, school pictures and the like to be kept in albums rather than put up on the wall. I always think how cheap and cheesy those portraits look when I enter someone's home and they're hanging for all to see. They're never artsy or tasteful, really, and usually the person in the photo hates it. They are usually framed very cheaply and poorly as well.

I make exceptions for extraordinary photos, something of great accomplishment for instance and I do like photos from my grandparents younger days, they were always dressed so fashionably with a nice background. I like black and white and sepia tones of old photos. Still-I'd prefer those photos to be displayed somewhere wehre it's not in-your-face right upon entering the home.

I also dislike (most) paintings and most other kinds of wall hangings in my home.

I hate knick-knacks too. Hate them.

Is it normal to like overall bare walls and hate knick-knacks?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate art and I love antiques and decorating, I do have small items, but they tend to be things like interesting clocks, vases and very, very unique and eye catching things....not a collection of ceramic unicorns or angels. I tend to use color, fabric and a bold item here and there to decorate rather than what I see is typical.

Sounds like you got great taste and a knack for chosing unique things. I just wouldn't go too minimalist as that can be a bit bleak.

    Hiya,

That's sensible. Wall art is made to appeal to everyone –- that's why nobody buys it.

I love a good picture; especially those black and white photos with red on (you can imagine how pleased I was when I saw Sin City) I'd prefer to find a program that does that effect and do one myself.

I love canvasses, collages etc., but I’d say you have to be pretty sure whatever's on/in them is either something that's been part of your life for a ridiculously long time or a precious family photo – if not one is a waste of money and the other is a waste of time – because you're bound to completely go off whatever you put up (or is that just me??)

I love unicorns and hares, but knick-knacks just get knocked over, so I’ve got a calendar with both on. I never put anything on my wall that I can't take down quickly.

It sounds to me like you have prostate cancer.

Well it is not uncommon for prostate to grow back.
