I don't know how to motivate myself

I'm 18 from North London

For my age im on a decent salary, and i wish to be living and working in America by the time im 21/22. But i cant save money to save my life.

I cannot help myself going out twice a week, spunking £50 a night out and im also getting fat, like 2 months ago i turned 18, and before that i was saving money and losing weight as well. Now i'm 18 i just can't stop going out, which means im putting on loads of weight again and i cant save money :(

Any tips to motivate myself to get back on track?

Seems like you are "looking for love in all the wrong places".
Food is your replacement for affection and your self dislike requires you to punish yourself, apparently by spending way too much money.
It's all a vicious cycle, and one that is quite difficult to break. You will have to find your own motivation to break it or you will spiral down into the depths of despair.

I was more motivated at 18 that I was at 21, which was kind of a shame lol. How about going out once a week as a start? Don't stop altogether, but cut down. You might even enjoy it more. A week isn't even a long time. Strike a work, play balance - easier said than done, but possible. If you're serious about moving to America, then think about how you'd feel if you didn't get to do it. Would it be a huge regret?

    • Doesn't have to be America, that's just my first choice. Just gotta get out this country. And thanks for your suggestions :)

Insight into your personality type may help you. I like the book "The Color Code" by Hartman. It will show you what motivates you.

Yes. It is simple but as I've read with a few helpful articles, the best way to do something you want to do is to just do it. Thinking about whether you want to do it or not will make you more likely to not do what you want. If it helps, if you are about to continue a habit that you consciously don't like, don't be afraid to tell yourself to stop out loud right then and there, anything to stop yourself. Its not stupid or embarrassing, its respecting yourself. "Ah nope, stop it. I'm not going to go and spend my money today, gotta save." If you don't, you'll continue the bad habit and end up feeling bad about yourself. "I just can't do what I want =/...", but CAN you? You want to feel good about yourself right? I'm sure its making you stressed and stress is like poison to the body, I'm sure you'll feel mentally and physically better if you proved to yourself right now that you can save. And the benefit? Being able to move to America by the date you said you wanted and an overdose of self-esteem.
