I don't get christopher nolan. at all.

I don't like Christopher Nolan movies at all.

There hasn't been a single movie of his where I didn't go "That was ok".

But people still treat him like he's the greatest director ever, and that kind of ticks me off. The guy could make a three hour film of someone taking a shit, and people would call it the greatest movie ever made.

Nolan is a fucking brilliant director. He has never set out to make a so called "clever" movie, it's the fans that analyze them too much.

You just dont have the taste or the intellect to follow a film like memento. Stick to rom coms

I'm not a fan. His direction is okay but his stories pretend to be cleverer than they are. They don't actually say anything. There aren't any ideas. It's just a bunch of scenes. I can watch them and I'd probably even enjoy them if they didn't try so hard at pretending to be clever.

  • "I don't like Christopher Nolan movies at all."

Because he's another sucky "big epic" director.

    Fuck him, he's mainstream.

Is he the one they had to the opening to the Olympics? Because when I saw that I literally said to myself, this is the worst directing I've ever seen, it was choppy, blurry too fast and terrible

If you don't even know who he is, how can you criticise him?

Danny Boyle (director of the 28 Days films, 127 hours, etc) did the Olympics.

He hasn't reached "God status'' like Tarantino, but he is one of the best.

    Not even the Batman trio?

    • Oh lord, don't even get me started on Nolan's Batman movies...

I'll just say this: the trilogy gave me the impression that Nolan was embarrassed that he was making superhero movies, so he tried to make them into crime dramas instead.

I don't think that he was embarrassed, that is just his style.

Those are the only 3 that I like though.

        • If he really wasn't embarrassed that he was making a superhero movie, why did he turn them into crime dramas? Why did he take such liberties with Bane's character? (A crucial part of his character, the Venom serum which made him a powerful, physical foe, was completely cut out)

One could argue that it's his style- and for while, I thought it was. But from watching this recent film, it showed me how little Nolan cares for Batman as a character and as a superhero, and he just wanted to make his own story and randomly put in Batman so that he could make a lot of money.

I still think it is just his style. He wanted to make it based more in real life. Which I like better than the cartoonish ones of the 1990's.

Batman isn't a superhero, Chris has done a fantastic job with that character. I haven't seen the third film yet but based off the trailer I don't think I like what he's done with Bane. However, I'll forgive him for it because The Joker & Dr Crane were perfect.

Overall I'd say Nolan has done a fantastic job with the Batman films, and although he won't be directing the Superman reboot, I believe his influence on the story will make the Man of Steel more popular than ever. I just wish Nolan was in charge of the Marvel movies.

I agree. So many people have only seen batman or inception. If you watch a few more of his movies you realize they all look the same! He's only ok. Even the movie Dark Knight, which I loved, I only loved it for Ledger's performance. Everything else wasn't really memorable.

I'm also fucking tired of people saying he's the one that proved superhero movies could be great. SAM RAIMI proved that before Nolan or Whedon!

In no way is he even close to Martin Scorcesse or Peter Jackson, what the fuck has this world come to?
Martin Scorcesse is probably the best director of our time,
Tarantino wasn't anything until he made Inglorious Bastards.

Excuse me? Tarantino wasn't anything until Inglorious, are you fucking serious? The man whose debut film was Reservoir Dogs, followed up by an even better film in Pulp Fiction, you're telling me this guy was a nobody until recently?

      Clueless.
