I don't get cap locking

Hey it's me TheBlindInquisitor and I don't like cap locking.

I get why people do it because they are trying to express yelling I think but it comes off as dumb.

Is it normal to not like it? I ask because there is a lot of people on the internet that dose this.

Yeah, it's normal to not like it. Whenever I see a person online who goes into tantrum mode and overdoes the caps lock, I just assume they're unstable, their advice is trash, and ignore them completely.

It's not really about yelling, but more about putting emphasis on something.

Like making a list where you have an excel table and you have stuff like "PRIMARY EXPENSES", "SECONDARY EXPENSES" to manage office expenses. Or something like "DAMAGES" for damaged goods. This was a tab I regularly filled out on my last job. You can not imagine how incompetent some river ship crews can be...

The internet does use it as a way to shout, but caps-locking was not made initially for shouting.

I consider writing in all-caps to be just stupid. It doesn't really get your point across and just makes you look like a dorky keyboard warrior.

I haven't seen any complaints about caps lock since the days of yahoo and MSN chat rooms, back around the late 90's.

English or any Latin language in caps lock might as well be fucking code all the letters look different.

Why do q and d and b become Q and D and B? Why not just change the size??

Lower case B should just be в

Only Аа, Бб, and Ее, have different styles, everything else just has a small and big form. For Latin it’s like every other character has a different capitalized look

I tried to update my email on my old account (because my old email was on a watchdog domain) and it locked me out of commenting and I just didn’t feel like fixing it lol.
So I just made a new one

That must be cool. I obviously never noticed that the same way as you, but it's mostly true. At least these are the same Vv Uu Ww Ss Xx Zz Yy Oo Pp Kk Cc - yes, I was checking my keyboard whilst doing it - but 11 out of 26 is not a lot in comparison.

Technically Uu and Yy are different because U lacks the bar on the side of u, and Y is straight while y is curved.

True, I did doubt the Y, but the U I was sure was the same. Ok, down to 9 then.

It's used for emphasis, but it can come across as aggressive when used for more than a single word.

    But maybe that's people's intent.

I personally think it works far better to put double dashes around the word you want to emphasize. For example: "How -dare- he do such a thing?"

I sometimes caps lock a word for emphasis, like she MENTIONED. I sometimes use *asterisks* or "quotation marks"...

I mostly agree, but also think that people can so whatever they want and it's usually pretty obvious what their intent is unless you're intent on being a raging haemorrhoid about it.

Just a quick suggestion. It's technically called "CAPS LOCK-ing".
