I don't believe that 2012 will be the end ?

first off, there's going to be several galactic alignments. earth, jupiter, galactic core, etc. are going to perfectly line up, highly likely to cause whats known as a "pole shift" in wich the magnetic fields will be disrupted enough to interact with eachother only resulting in them repeling each other to opisit sides of the earth. this is scientific FACT. no chance involved, these solar and planitary allignments will happen. will the poles shift? PROBABLY, but not definately. it's likely though. this is bad why? because, the forse of this shift could also move the planet. it could change it's axis, and even be taken out of orbit. if that happens, the planet will die from thicker or not thick enough atmospheres, the poles could melt, the world could heat up, etc.

the mayan are only involved because of this:

they aren't savage, rather an extremely INTELLECTUALLY ADVANCED CIVILISATION. they had a very great understanding of astronamy and could predict the movements and position of the viewable universe thousands of years in the future, something we can also do easily today. the big deal is, all the predictions of how the universe will look have been correct and accurate. they had predicted 2,012 years worth of universal activity. but the calendar was finished there. but it was in fact a FINISHED calendar, for it was circular. the most likely reason they stopped there was because their interpretation was that this allignment was a sign from thier gods.

thats the whole story, so please stop talking about the mayan. they aren't really involved.

and the hollywood story IS bs. it is not what the whole thing is about.

Something might happen maybe not , but does it really matter ? At the end everyone dies!

My theory on 2012 is that if enough people believe thatbit is going to happen then something is going to happen. Group mentality if it's fully believed WE will end the world

I agree maybe they just didn't finish the thing. Every few years someone says the world is going to end on a certain date. Well the Bible says that no man knows the date no even the Son of God!! If it happens it happens I know I'm prepared!!! If not I'll see the world in the morning... ;-)

i hope something does happen, but nothing that will hurt people, so that i can laugh at the most nieve groups of people i've met.

if god is planning this, i'd be so awesome how he left more than enough evidence that tells us it will happen, as though gaurenteing he'd be revealing our fate to us, knowing that our human error would cause us to deny and swear on our lives it won't happen, and this is why no man shall know the worlds end time, because people are somehow convinced that it will never happen. let's be for real people, one of these times, it's not gunna be a false call. unless you know when it will happen, don't claim you know it won't.

nice taboomasterwriter same here... i think the mayans stopped writing at 2012 because eventually you would have to stop writing dates it would get really boring and they have picked 2012 to stop at because of the number i dont know..but i am not sure whats gonna happen.i dont wana die a virgin.! i am not looking forward to it though

You make really good points. The main point in the argument of what will happen is that, yes, you are correct, the Mayans simply didn't keep the calendar going. This whole "the world is going to end'' BS is perpetuated by Hollywood and the media. Look at all the movies that have come out about the end of the world just because this whole 2012 is semi on our minds. It's total nonsense!

Cpj is right. It's not supposed to be the end of the world. But a huge phase that the earth should go thru.
And it wasn't just the Mayan calender that predicted this. Also no one said the world was going to end in the year 2000. Just a computer meltdown. Which never happened.

i highly doubt it. from what i've heard, the mayan calendar only goes to that date. but no the world's not ending. if by any chance it does, if we all die we'll meet again in heaven, right? so there's some good we can take from it.

No your not wrong; I think you are right on target. Everyone said the world was going to end in the yr. 2,000 and we are still here ten years later. I don't really believe it either the whole thing sounds carzy to me.
