I dislike mainstream music

YES. I fucking hate the radio not only is the music cheesy and all the same...But they always plays the shit out, Gosh its so damn annoying. and i agree with what you said about playing some artist until they become trash like other artists on the radio. PLUS many of the people don't even have talent, just Cathy songs that mean nothing and won't help nothing.

Good news, is i have officially boycotted the radio bullshit. And i only listen to REAL music.

I like some mainstream stuff, but I mostly prefer non-mainstream. My fav at the moment is bayside...check em out if you haven't yet. Not only do they make amazing music, but they're nice in person :)

Uh, I think it'a a bit silly and pretentious to think that the moment a band gets famous, their work somehow decreases in merit, but yeah, I'm not overly fond of most of the popular stuff nowadays either.

Your style of writing, however, leads me to believe that you're trying to be cool by being anti-establishment, so I think you're, as they say, "doin' it rong".

A few bands that remember thier fans are radiohead the shins the dodos Beck and Animal collective. Check em out. Also try and get involved with your local music scene

There are only a few mainstream artists who have talent but it's safe to say most of it is generic bullshit. I've seen a lot of original bands sell out once they hit the top. I hate most mainstream bands due to their combination of lack of talent and smug attitudes towards it.

@ conebread, Deadmau5 is on the radio? where do you live, i want good radio. Most mainstream stuff in America is generic and crap, however there are some bands that are well know and have still retained their roots.

I disagree simply because there are several mainstream pop artists who truly do have talent, and if a band you like being heard on the radio shocks you (like in my case when I heard Deadmau5 on the radio...weird) then good for them, they're getting more attention and their music is reaching a broader audience. And also...if you don't like the music on the radio for whatever your reasons are...just don't listen to it. Simple as that.

listen to some underground hip hop the reason you dont like mainstream is because it is ALWAYS empty music. when your on a major record label you dont just get to make music anymore you do what your told so its not creative at all its all controlled. thats why you only hear songs about love or clubbing or other distractions
