I dislike adults

I dislike adults. I cannot say that I hate them, but I am getting closer. Dad never takes me seriously. He doesn't trust me. Mom always tells my secrets to her friend. Friend then finds many opportunities to tease me and make me feel uncomfortable. As a result, I hate Friend and cannot trust Mom. Also my teacher always talks down to students. She always thinks our questions are stupid, and then she thinks our answers are also stupid. I also just read an article on this very website, talking about people who hate kids! I don't dislike all adults! A lot of them are really nice! But still, Is this normal?

It's normal. When I was a child I didn't really like to be around adults because they made me nervous. I grew up old school and felt I had to always be perfect around adults, part of it was my upbringing and part was my own shy and anxious nature. As a teen I sort of ignored adults as I was beginning to discover a lot of them weren't as smart as they thought they were. I was still polite but didn't let their scolding or molding of me stick so much. Now as I'm pretty much in full adulthood (I'm in my 20's now) I try to keep in touch with my younger ideas/memories as to not loose that young edge. I think it's important for adults to remember what they were like as kids and what it was they feared, dreamt of, and felt motivated by. Besides some people don't change. I remember thinking that when I grew up I would know everything and have 'grown up' conversations and 'grown up' friends. Well, I certainly don't know everything and while I have a lot of wonderful friends who make for great intellectual conversation, there are adults out there who complain about teens but act like they're still in High School themselves. Don't let adults intimidate you or make you feel you’re stupid or not liked. A lot of them are still trying to find themselves and act negatively in the processes. Hey, I'm still finding out about myself. Be patient with the adults who are negative in your life and try to use their examples as how to not be. Maybe with your own kids, you'll be discreet with what they tell you so they can trust you or listen to them so they know you respect them and take them seriously. You already sound very self-aware and intelligent so keep it up :)

I hated adults when I was a kid. I hate kids now that I'm an adult. When I was a teenager, I hated everyone.

Watch Planet of the Apes or something.

I've heard people kinda lose themselves at 40 - all the failure of trying to be something, of hoping life will turn a certain way, all the dreams they've had since youth come crashing down.
