I've been dating a beautiful black woman few a few weeks. Beautiful inside and outside. I'm white. We got into a heated augument about an hour ago. I blew my top, called her the N word and then thought I was about to die. Where the fuck did that come from? Her face got so hard and angry looking that if she had a gun I'd be dead right now. Been calling her for the last hour almost non stop. I even used my sister's phone hoping she'd pick up. Boy did I fuck up. We had it going good. Is it normal for one ugly word to destroy a wonderful, loving relationship? I love her. I love her. I love her. How can one stupid word ruin everything? Thanks for listening.

You should realize it's not JUST a "stupid word" because there's a lot of meaning behind that one word. She's thinking you've shown your "true colors" and perhaps you have.

I honestly don't feel sorry for you. You don't deserve much, but if you're lucky and you play your cards right she might come around. However, at this moment it sounds like the best thing you could do is leave her be and let the dust settle.

      Well, I know I'm the same age as you, I've lived here all my life and it's NEVER been an acceptable term except for racists, so that's the only type of people you must've been mixing with. Some Australian Aboriginals used to use the term amongst themselves in an ironic way, but that's an entirely different matter to whites using it.
      
      Incidentally, when this came up a while ago I'm sure you talked about VISITING the northern part of Australia many years ago, not LIVING in this country, so which is it? Probably irrelevant, but I thought I'd ask anyway

        What would you call a nine month visit? I lived on my boat, fished scallops out of Bundy and Marlin out of Cairns. Call it whatever you please, I don't give a crap. I spent some months (I can't say EXACTLY how long as some of my log books were lost in hurricane Klaus) sailing between Cooktown and Darwin, an area I'm pretty sure you've never been to, unless on a tour.
        Perhaps where you were, people had different customs. I don't know. How would you know what the people in Qland were like in the 70's? Did YOU spend some months in Bundy, Rockhampton, Cairns or Cooktown?
        Just because you live in a place your whole life doesn't mean you know shit about ALL of it. Your country is incredibly diverse with people of many different attitudes and mindsets. So unless you profess to have personal knowledge of everyone I met in my travels in your country, you can't possibly make an informed comment about any of them, can you?
        Are you ever going to give it a break or are you going to be a part of the Aussie mafia and chime in EVERY mother fucking chance you get to try and catch me out?
        I don't hassle you about your chosen profession, even though many others do. Why is so important for you and the rest of the assholes to try to prove me a liar or that I don't live on a boat?
