I didn't know girls had a vagina and a vulva? am i the only guy?

So I am a guy in his 20's and never been with a woman (gay here) and I just learned that a vagina is not the same as a vulva! I didn't know "vagina" referred only to her internal part and the external part is the "vulva". Why does everyone call lady parts "vagina" when that's not true? Why does no one use the term "vulva" or "labia" or even "clit"? I just learned those words in the last year!!!

Don't worry. Most women call it by the wrong name too and they are their parts. Go figure.

What's the first rule of fight club? Same with vulva, labia majora, labia minora and often even vagina. Just not hot banter. Clit is usually ok. Announcing your intention to "insert penis into the vagina" will likely result in a flurry of dressing and the squealing car tyres. Your newfound knowledge is limited in practical application to trivia nights or playing Doctors and Nurses. Hence first rule...

I was reading this and realised, in 48 years, 3 marriages, and dozens of female partners, I have never ever heard a woman refer to her labia (inner or outer) as labia.

I might have heard a woman refer to her outer pubic area as her "Vulva" once, but even that I wouldn't stake my life on.

Your comment has prompted me to time out by saying 'pop quiz moment' instead of 'easy boy' when next the need arises to slow the pace.

I'll report back. Maybe you are not the only one?

Yeah, sex education classes are severely lacking in many countries.

There are pockets in America where "abstinence only" classes have taken the place of proper sexual education, and children are learning nothing about the reproductive system, anatomy, or contraceptives (not to mention STI's) It's sad but true, and I don't see it having a positive effect.

I thought he was a good looking guy even when I was a 7 year old boy, and I'm not even remotely gay.

Realistically, it's the same as referring to the dangly bits below a penis as "balls". Seriously, who could be bothered with the differentiation of "testis, scrotum, etc".

Additionally, I think most (heterosexual) males are only interested in the vagina - the vulva (and all it's sub-components) are to most men simply the bits you need to get past to get your penis into the vagina!
