I despise adults who make a big deal about their birthdays

I can't stand adults who think you owe them the world because it's their birthday, it's immature!!! It makes me sick thinking about all the pathetic adults who have a "birthday week".........grow up and learn that the world doesn't revolve around you. My husband has a sister that lives 10 hours away from us and I am six months pregnant. By the time our baby is six weeks old, his sister will turn 27, and my husband wanted the three of us to take a train to celebrate his sisters birthday, I told him he was out of his mind and I am completely unwilling to travel that far for a birthday. From this point on, I think when it's my birthday, I should tell my man that I don't want anything period. That way he will learn that adult birthdays are not remotely as important as people think they are.

    You're blowing this whole thing out of proportion. It's not about birthdays, it's about how self centered you feel your sister in law is. I think it's fine celebrate one's birthday, and have a wonderful day, but it's a bit much to expect people especially after having had a baby to schlepp themselves 10 hours away just to celebrate one's birthday.

    I hate birthdays daddy didn't buy me a combine harvester and now i will take it out on all the happy people.

    Your making a mountain out of a mole hill...
    also who has a birth week that person sounds very selfish...its so silly.

    There is nothing wrong with celebrating your birthday....doing something nice on it. Now it is wrong to just expect people to Bend over backwards for you.

    I love ...love doing this to people on my birthday...
    first a few weeks befor my birthday ill ask people..." hey so my birthday is on may 11 what are you going to get me?"
    I love the shocked sometimes flustered look on their face! But then I always ask for something simple and silly and it makes them smile or laugh.

    Once in hs I asked this girl that...she looked sad and said she didnt have much money. .. I told her thats ok! You know that hairstyle you had once and I told you how cute you looked? Id love it if on my birthday you wore that hairstyle! She laughed and said that she could do that. I just wanted her to feel pretty...as she got complements on it. :)

    Oh in college I asked a friend that...he looked so flustered! And I said you know what I would just love? I could tell he was starting to look slightly unhappy. .. then I said an art trade!!! He was a good artist I really enjoyed his work and he enjoyed mine... he had asked me for one of my peices before but I was giving it to my mom already.
    anyway he looked so shocked and happy...he said ok! And on my birthday we exchanged some drawings.

    My birthday was two days ago n I forgot all about it til I read my mags wish in me happy wTever..so I agree bdays arnt that important.my ex used to do the bday week n at first its cute then it gets annoying.I ended up buying everyone dinner on my bday cuz everybody's broke savin for holidays u know.
