I cut myself over a relationship that never happened

Last year, I really really liked my best guy friend and all my friends think he liked me too. After last year, we both switched schools and I haven't seen him since then. Whenever I think about him (which is quite a lot) i get depressed and think that my love life will never work out and i cut myself (on my hips so that people can't see it).

Sure, it's normal to feel upset about a relationship that could have been but never was, but cutting yourself is a bit extreme in any circumstance.

Hey, make sure you get some help, alright? A therapist.

And just for the record, it helps me to know that someone out there feels as passionately as I do about things that never come to fruition...

Unfortunately scars become more vivid with exposure to sunlight. I think vitamin E cream can help reduce scarring. I'm a man who was severly depressed years ago an self harmed alot. Its not normal but is, unfortunately, very common. See a doctor and get refered to a mental health practitioner, because believe me it gets harder as you get older to explain the marks. I wish you all the best, and good luck

everyone feels pain even when the relationship never really happened but you hoped it would. you lost your chance of it starting, so feeling bad is normal.

the cutting thing, though, seems like mostly it's young girls who jumped on that wagon. you will eventually find that there are ways to control your emotions (hopefully) and those scars will become an embarrassment in the future, unfortunately.

So sorry to hear that! :( Interesting though, as a fellow cutter, I was trying to think of places to cut myself where people wouldn't see, and you know what? There aren't many places. If you wear a bikini in the summer, people will see the cuts/scars. It sucks. I get really upset and when I cut, I don't really think about the result - until a few hours later. It sucks. My wrists are pretty scarred. I used to cut my stomach too, since I thought I was fat, and the scars seem to stay on there more since it does see the sun as often. This summer, I am going to have to try tanning with my wrists up, since I've done some cutting lately (but never enough to send me to the hospital). Stupid brain... I think I do it to hurt myself - not to kill myself. Anyway good luck!!

I understand why people cut themselves, especially over relationships, i have felt like doing it myself before.
You need someone to talk to about your feelings because if you keep it all to yourself you will end up taking everything out on yourself.
If you don't want to talk to anyone you no about it then you can talk to me. just send me a message or leave a reply on here or something
    hope this helps
