I couldn't care less!

It really bugs me when people say "I could care less" when what they actually mean to say is, "I couldn't care less".

The expression is used to indicate an extreme lack of caring. More or less like "I don't give a sh*t". So, if you "could care less", then you actually do care. It's incorrect.

Is it normal that I find this a bit irritating?

Actually, I use that phrase sometimes referring to: I don't care about what you're saying, but if you keep talking I could care even less than I do right now.. I think I just always said the phrase wrong but still meant it the way that I was saying it. If that makes any sense.. Oh well, it does to me, lol.

But I can relate to being annoyed easily by other people's simple, but very dumb mistakes..

But my cousins think it's weird that I say couldn't but when I try to explain, they ignore me xD

  • ... Or when people say "fustrated" instead of fRustrated. They sound like toddlers.

Everyone has their thing. Your normal to be bothered by something so small.

The worst is when you are playing a video game and a character says "I could care less." Professional writers and voice actors who are paid high amounts of money to get these things right say the wrong thing! Even the subtitles say "I could care less." It is infuriating!

It doesn't bother me. The important thing is whether you know what they're saying or not.

Now, if someone comes off with a string of things in a row, then it starts to bother me. Maybe something like:

"I could care less if he could of aksed me, he prolly should of aksed me." (no typos)

no your missing what the saying means. this is hard to illustrate but let me give you an example sentence:
"well i guess i COULD care less"
what they are saying is that they feel like its not important BUT its not the thing they care the least about.
