I compulsively eat toothpaste

I can't stop eating toothpaste!! I brush my teeth 3+ times a day and i usually swallow about half of the foam. i also eat small amounts of it throughout the day in between brushings or after meals. I am bulimic and i swallow LARGE amounts of toothpaste before i purge. I know this isnt normal, but is it seriously dangerous or anything? Is it some weird form of pica? Is it normal?

In all seriousness, the bulimia part is not normal and you should seek some help with that. I suffer from your condition as well. It's called Pica, eating inedible objects. And this is usually caused by large amounts of stress. I haven't sought any help with it, but I make sure not to consume too much. Maybe you should seek help if it ever starts to harm you. And I don't think you can seriously die from eating small amounts of toothpaste throughout the day. I think the most common harm is diarrhea. But still, ingesting toothpaste is not healthy, and it probably isn't good to continue with this habit. Just chew gum next time you get the urge to eat the toothpaste. Hope this helped :)

It can be dangerous, yes. Consuming too much fluoride can lead to skeletal fluorosis which is a bone disease causing deformations like a hunchback.

    Being bulimic isn't normal.
In your case it's probably just a cry for attention anyways.
I would say keep eating toothpaste until someone notices, and your goal will be achieved.

congratufuckinglations "sir", you certainly are a credit to your species. My only question is how you didn't figure that out from my ONE retarded post. I think this toothpaste thing is making you an idiot.

look at me Im posting twice too. You know if you want to 'retract' your statement, you can delete it. But you wanted mt to see it didn't you? You want this little sad sac story of yours to go on, so you throw some boring crap out painfully accented with your SIRs and such. An embarrassing read, I'm glad I have some books.

the post isn't about my bulimia, it's about the toothpaste eating. Nobody knows i do either of them, and i dont plan on telling them, so it's not about attention. i was just wondering if anybody knew why i might have a strange toothpaste eating compulsion.

Well, a lot of bulimics have NASTY breath from throwing up all the time. All the stomach acid starts to cause their esophagus to decay. (NASTY!) At least the toothpaste covers that base. :)

That's really not good for you. Toothpaste is not made for consumption, that's why it says to limit the amount that little kids use, because they are more likely to eat it.

    Get help from a doc.
