I chew my cheeks

Ever since I can remember, when I see a repeated pattern such as a honeycomb or spider eyes or simply repeated shapes, I chew on the insides of my cheeks and feel jittery and jumpy. I presume I had a bad experience with something in my youth, but I have no conscious memory. Regardless, this is a strange response to have. Can anyone shed any light on this habit?

I have the same obsession problem, though I have trypophobia. This lotus seed pod picture, it creeps me out, yet I can't tear my eyes away from it.

I get the same feeling, maybe even worse when I see things like that. It's called trypophobia.
I also chew my cheeks. But random times. (:

Wow! I looked up trypophobia in Google and the images gave me the exact feeling I am trying to describe!! However, I don't know that I would say I am afraid when I have these feelings. My response to these images does share commonality with stereotypical fear responses such as an adrenalin rush and perhaps some sort of paralysis. However, I do not run from these patterns - I obsess over them!

I do the same thing, I had to refrain because it would cause me to get sores. LOL

  • I do the same thing but due to the pure volume of diet soda I drink, I develop canker sores rather easy. I had to break it as I was sick of the constant mouth pains from canker sores. (Canker sores are mouth ulcers created when the mouth's acidity is high, not herpies related.)

chewing your cheeks is the same thing as biting you lip or picking at your eyebrows. Is it not uncommon in any way, but your dentist would highly advice you not to chew on your cheeks :)
