I cannot go to church and believe anything.

I wasn't really raised into a religion, and any time I find myself in church for easter, or mothers day, etc. I can't help but disagree with everything the pastor says.

I won't say anything, but all of the songs about "devoting my life to Him" and the like just seem to make Christianity as a whole seem even more ridiculous than I already thought. Then they pass around a collection plate which makes things feel so commercial to me.

I believe in some sort of higher power/universe creator that controls things on a cosmic level, but organized religion always just seems like a cult gathering to me. I do support living a good life and giving to thy neighbor/being a good human being to one another, but to devote your life to a book of stories written by men in a time before modern law just seems a little funny to me. Fear of going to hell is a pretty good motivator to not commit crime, but such a decision can also be concluded by choosing between right and wrong morally. Why throw a book, commandments, and a bearded white guy into the mix?

I am in total agreement with you, and am happy someone else thinks like me. You sound like a good person, and I have found more 2-faced people in churches than almost anywhere else. My relationship to "god" or the "higher power" is very personal, and my connections and conversation with him do not have to occur in a church. I actually feel closest to God when I am with nature.

i feel the same way, it all feels like a cult to me.

You don't need a religion, the whole reason religion was invented was to explain things that no one understood.

I encourage you to read the Satanic Bible. Become a little more educated and decide how you feel. I had a similar problem with christianity. Every day I realize more and more how the christians shove their beliefs on other people and if you arent a christian you are less likely to be accepted in society. Its a shame that one religion has so much power to dictate our lives. Why should we be forced to believe in a jewish fairytale?

Thanks for the insight.. I wouldn't go as far as exploiting satanism for my questioning, partly because the whole "devil" thing plays on the God/heaven/hell story... which I also find kind of strange.

Everyone has a concience (sp?) And can make their own moral decisions based on what they think is correct, not because "the devil made them do it".

Exorcisms and magic and whatnot is some crazy shit though, I don't know much about the validity of any of that haha.

Also, LaVey is a jackass riding the controversial coattails of Crowley.

you guys don't "hate" it, you're only using that word because the media has caused all people (myself included) to make everything tragic.

A better word would maybe be "am disgusted with"... because I am disgusted with those who think they're the supreme religion, basically shunning anyone who thinks differently, if not trying to convert them to what they believe to be "right"..

Most all religions teach the same thing through their various stories and teachings.. to live a virtuous life.. that is, one with good morals, truth, wisdom, thinking, and beneficial to the flourishing of one's own life. NOW, this is NOT a bad thing, but the part where it's gotten commercialized into one being more righteous than another is all pretty silly to me.

Right there with you bro, I fuckin hate it when people try to shove that shit down my throat it pisses me off and that's all Christians seem to do for the most part

You should say something...the majority of pastors welcome "questioning" if anything just to have a discussion with you... I am Christian and love to talk to people from different cultures and religions because if anything it's learning and interesting..

I think Jesus is Jewish. Not a white guy. I use to feel the same way. Then one day it all made sense.

Yeah going to Satanism would be silly, since it defeats the purpose being part of Christian mythos. You are on the right track by "not saying anything". Most religion teaches great things on how to treat others and do great things like feed the hungry. The problem is the knocking at your door, preaching to you in public and other such invasions of privacy.... That said, I would rather a Christian use his modern methods of forcing religion on me than someone from the Middle East doing the same...
