I can't tell people that i love them.

Ever since I was around 7, I haven't been able to say "I love you" to anyone. I'll be walking out the door and my mom will shout it to me--almost offhandedly. The best I can manage is "thanks" or on really good days (or when prompted specifically) "you too." On very very rare occasions, like the day my parents bought me a car or.. nothing else really comes to mind, I can articulate my feelings. I'm not a hugging person, either. I just feel so awkward. Is this normal?

I used to get really mad when my family tries to hug me and I'm angry when they try now. I don't like people hugging me but whenever my friends give me a hug I just accept it or else it'll be awkward. I'm alright with people touching me but for some reason I don't like my family touching me, including my little sister and what not. It's normal, I hate it too when there's an awkward moment.

i’m the same way, i think i find it hard to say because i believe that actions speak louder than words and i’ve gotten stuck in an unrequited love so i’m scared to risk that again.

you got some disconnect somewhere. practice on your puppy. give love. you get love when you give love. it's a karma thing i think.. life is much better with love.

OMG, I'm the same! I don't really like huggings or saying 'I love you' to anyone except for my pets. :)

It's pretty normal. It can be awkward. But honestly, I think it'll be hard to hold on to relationships that way. A small thing like that...I know it seems small, but it can lead to commitment issues, and that will cause problems. ESPECIALLY if you're a guy.

I use " I love you" too fluently. Our whole family says it even if we are just hanging up the fone. But i agree with the akwardness of hugging. I despise hugs, even from immediate family.

    hey
Don't worry i used to have a problem with say i love you and also meaning it too. the thing is you need to think why you stopped saying it. maybe even talk to your mom about it.x

I used to be like that for the longest time. It eventually got easier.

I don't think it's normal. If you do feel love, it's OK.

I've been bad about this myself. I'm not as wierd about it anymore though. I still don't tell people I love them all the time though. overuse of the phrase ruins it if you ask me.

But, feeling very awkward about saying it is probably something you should work on.
